Guest guest
Welcome, Marie. I think you will find LL to be THE program. I have also tried every diet, gimmick, new fad in diet/exercise,but LL is the one program that I have loved from the very first day! I have lost inches, and learned how to relax! I find that I'm very relaxed after my LL tape. Although I try to do it in the mornings, I sometimes don't have the time, and will do it before bed if I can. I think you'll really like it. I can't do most traditional workouts anymore because of the stress it puts on my legs and feet, but LL gives you an aerobic workout, tightens, and relaxes you. It's hard to describe, but I'll never use anything but this. Good luck & keep us posted.
Guest guest
Muffin, Yes, just breathing correctly diaphragmatically does for many people help them to lose unwanted inches and pounds. Rashelle does answer e-mail. She has been away from the list for about a month now due to family illness. Darlene and I are in contact with her and try to keep the listers informed of how things are going. The listers on this list are very helpful and there are a lot of experienced LifeLifters on this list who are more than willing to help you over the difficulties. As for working out in addition to LifeLift, that is a person's personal choice. Some people choose to add programs to tone up faster than with LifeLift alone. When I first came into contact with Rashelle I remember being shocked and thinking I had read a mis-print in her newsletter. I came into contact with her before I started this e-group. The newsletter said that she had increased her workout time to 5 minutes a day to get toned up for a new video coming out. I thought that they must have meant 50 instead of 5. When I contacted Duane he said, no, she increased it to 5 minutes a day. Some people only need a few minutes a day to maintain their losses once they reach their goal. ~KarmaSave 25% on name brands at my on-line Health Supply Storehttp://loaves-n-fishes.com/store.htmlWe sell overseas and to Canada too. newbie here yes this is a newbie & I NEED some encouragement!I am such a Newbie that the videos have not arrived yet in the mail, but Ihave been reading this group. Guest guest
Hi, I keep hearing about the *stress* relief of this program. I only hope thats so, it could add a significant benefit to me, as I have had sooo much emotional upheaval in my life over several family deaths in the last 2 years, the most recent , my mother 3 months ago. anything to get me back *alive* would be wonderful. being so *stressed* has NOT helped my weight & energy factor which is about ZIP! talk about shallow breathers,, hmm mm I think I am the poster child! Guest guest
Hi Muffin, It really is hard NOT to be a skeptic when you hear about these breathing programs. I was too at first, but now I am completely 100% sold on this!!! After my second baby (born in Nov), I had a very difficult time losing weight. For 3 months I could not get the scale to budge no matter what I did. I started with BodyFlex in May, and in 3 months, I lost 17 " . In August I made the switch to LifeLift and in one month lost another 7 " . My results are better, but what really made the difference for me is that I really enjoy it and this is something I CAN do for life! It's still hard for me to " accept " that breathing is the key too, because I too have spent 14 years of my life dieting (and I'm only 26). This is by far the best thing I've ever done for myself, and besides the inchloss, there are so many other benefits to rave about! Give it your best shot, and please keep us posted. If you need help with anything, just ask! Glad to have you with us, ë Tara > yes this is a newbie & I NEED some encouragement! > I am such a Newbie that the videos have not arrived yet in the mail, but I > have been reading this group. Guest guest
Hi Sherrie. Im 27 with 2 girls ages 8 and my youngest will be 5 in June. I live in Mass for right now. When my kids get out of school in June we will be moving to South Carolina. I need to lose probably about 150lbs but would be happy with about 120lbs. Im still struggling with staying on track but atleast when i fall off the wagon I try to get right back on. Welcome to the group and I look forward to hearing more from you scga_t <thoms13@...> wrote: Hello. :-) I just joined and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Sherrie, 33 in SC (it feels like summer here, too). Hubby (34) and I are both overweight and the kids (she's 8 & he's nearly 4) are thin. I was told last year to lost 100-120 pounds and have spent the last year gaining and losing a whopping 10. I've identified my problem areas and am on my way to taming those demons. I've been heavy most of my life. I love to cook (I collect cookbooks of all types) and know how to plan healthy meals. I like walking, dancing, and karate, but haven't regularly exercised in years. The weight gain over the past 4 years has been slow and steady. If anyone has any questions for me, just ask. I'm pretty open. Looking forward to chatting with all of you. BB! Guest guest
Welcome to the group. Just so I can introduce myself to all the newbies. My name is and I am 38. I did not have any weight issues until about 6 years ago. Prior to that I weighed between 100-110 pounds. I am only 5 feet tall. I started gaining weight after I lost all the baby weight I gained with my second daughter ( my girls are 13 and 9 now). It got out of hand a few years later, despite walking at least 2 miles a day and eating a really healthy diet, I continued to gain weight. No one could figured out what was happening and why. I joined all kind of programs and even argued with the Weight Watchers leader when I continued to gain weight despite following the program. So, I was somewhat relieved when I find out that I have polycystic ovarian disease (PCO or PCOS). One of my docs said that I will probably never loose weight-now I weigh 215-almost the heaviest I have ever been. However, I will loose weight and I will show that doctor. I am currently following the McDougall plan, which is a vegan plan-no meats or meat products and no fat. It is easy to follow, except I cook a lot more from scratch. Since I started the plan earlier in the year I lost about 7 pounds. I also fell off the wagon for a while (got sick and had no energy to cook). Now I am well and looking forward to loosing the weight. I also joined Curves for Women, which is a half-hour circuit program for women to exercise. My daughter and I go together-or try to. Good luck all ---------------------------------

Guest guest
Welcome newbies!!! Sherrie, you got me out of hiding for a minute (I am 41, in grad school, recently separated from my husband & going through he@@... so I'm not really in hiding... just don't have the time, etc.) You intrigued me when you said you, " I've identified my problem areas and am on my way to taming those demons. " I have identified some problems that we relate to being a side effect of over weight... now I think the weight is a side effect of these problems... What kind of demons are you talking about? (I understand if this is too personal) By the way.... I love to cook also... know how to cook healthy... and would run a good competition with you on cook books... (but we do own a restaurant .. so at least I have an excuse {or write off}) For the rest of you... I am trying to get my head above water. I cry alot... I know I need to get help... I promise myself today I will make the call. My weight has gone up. I am near my top weight ever. I have been attacking one bad habit at a time... trying to break them... Maybe this approach will work... maybe counseling will work... something has too!!!!
Guest guest
Great beginning Karyl! Welcome and keep posting - I started at 225 and have managed to drop 62 lbs C3W3D5 - you can do it! Park Newbie here Good morning! I've decided to take the plunge and commit to a BFL challenge and am hoping I can become a regular here. You all seem so helpful and supportive! I've followed the plan in the past(with great results in a short time!) however, I never made it past the 4 week mark. I'm changing my attitude this time! Even though I have a long way to go (at 240 lbs) I will succeed. Exercise has never been an issue...love it...unfortunately, I love food, too. Gonna change that relationship I'm grocery shopping today, taking measurements and pics, and finish planning my workouts cuz tomorrow I begin! Thanks for listening and I look forward to getting to know you all! -Karyl
Guest guest
Hi Karyl, I'm the same way, love to work out but love to eat (a lot!), too. Unfortunately (and I'm sure you already know this), you can work out till the hogs come home, and it'll do you no good if you don't eat clean. It's sad but true. Anytime I read an interview with a fitness competitor, she's bound to say that nutrition is 80% of the lookin' hot equation. The best advice I've received from the ladies on this board is to stay consistent, eat all your meals and watch your portion sizes. Some ladies here don't count calories; I do. I find that I can figure out my portion sizes better that way. Also, the biggest mistake I've made in the past is going crazy on free day and eating everything in sight. Don't do it! Eat what you want but in moderation. You'll get the best results if you limit yourself to one or two free controlled meals. Oh, and drink your water, 3-5 litres a day! Keep posting, too. Guest guest
Welcome to the club, Karyl. You are going to love this program, especially if you love working out and food. Yes, I said food. We are like women who are forever getting into bad relationships, it isn't that being in love is bad for us, it is the ones we choose to love that's the problem. Learn to love cottage cheese, chicken, tuna, salmon, veggies, fruits, whole grains....and of course WATER, and you will do fine. Guest guest
What a small world. HELLLLLOOOOO, JAN!!!! Remember 'CrunchyParents', LOL? We are still there, down to a membership of only a few, but Joanne, , Chrystal, Luz, and Amy are still there. Thanks so much for the update!!! By the way, I don't remember if you were there for my epidural discussion with the list, but I wound up giving birth to my third at home with no meds She is not vaccinated. Ethan wound up having autism, by the way. is fine - selectively vaccinated him and both are on the gluten and casein free diet. Glad to see you here! > Hi! > > My name is Jan and I have 8 children. It's amazing to me how many more shots they've added to the " mandatory " list since then.) Then he had the DPT & the other regular shots at 2mos old~ to which he had a severe reaction. > > We're still not sure if it was the HepB or the Pertussis in the DPT or the combination of the shots, but he stopped breathing 3 times the second night after the shots. We co-slept(for ease of breastfeeding ;- ) so I was able to shake him and get him to breathe all three times. He stopped breathing several more times during the night, but caught himself each time and breathed again on his own. This was, obviously, an Extremely stressful night. > > He also had other issues with his sinuses, caught colds very easily, and just seemed overall much sicker than any of my other children had ever been. It wasn't until he was nearly a year old( & had gotten all his shots on schedule) that I started reading more about vaccinations and realized that what had happened to him after his 2mos shots was vaccine related, not just some sort of illness. > > My pediatrician was fine with me waiting to give him his MMR until he was 2~ now I look back and am extremely thankful that I waited at least that long or my son could have had much worse problems. > > By the time I had my next baby(4yrs later) I was refusing most vaccinations (and the nurse at the hospital was Mad that I refused the HepB for him!lol). Guest guest
Welcome , Whole foods are better. But, I like to keep a good whey protein powder on hand, for meals when meat/cottage cheese/etc. doesn't sound good. Then you can just grab an apple/orange/or another carb and it's a meal. It's cheaper than a meal replacement powder, too. Guest guest
, I am sure everyone has said this already because I haven't gotten far enough down the board to read the responses to your post, but anyways... I don't do the shakes or meal replacement bars. Not so much because of the cost, but more so because I just don't like them. You can work this program by eating whole foods. Cottage cheese and a fruit are a good example of something quick. There are several good recipes around, the fool yourself cookies for example. They're not bad as far as taste goes, and they're super quick. Not to mention they travel well. Hope I helped and was not too redundant. Good luck, the group will be here to push you when you need it! Jill
Guest guest
, Welcome! You are going to LOVE this program! And the best substitute for shakes is REAL FOOD! The only reason to use shakes and bars is convenience, or in case of emergency. I eat a lot of fruit and cottage cheese because I like it. I'll also make sandwiches on whole wheat or sprouted wheat bread when I need something portable! Lynda
Guest guest
Welcome to the group Heidi, We have quite a few Canadians here. Have they tried you on predisone or Methotrexate yet? You have found a great home here. Lynn Renae Dudenhoefer lynndude@... -On any path that you may stroll, -keep your angel in your soul! -- newbie here HI everyone My name is Heidi, and I am from Canada. (My birthday is Feb. 22, 1962) That means that I'm, ummm-oh yeah-41! My husband and I have six children, ages 18 to 6, a lively black lab dog, and a live-in grandpa. We currently home school the four youngest kids. I was diagnosed with Stills in May. Looking back, I see all the pieces of the puzzle--going to bed just freezing and waking up in a sweat. Rash. Joint pain-flaming joint pain. This was tough, because I had to set my guitar aside, as I could not even close my hand to make a fist. It took probably 2 years to get a diagnosis-the rash-I dismissed as contact dermatitis-the arthralgias are what got my attention. Even so, my gp didn't draw a correlation between the two, but he was willing to send me on for more diagnosis. I got sent to an allergist, who sent me to the rheumy.(later, my gp told me that I was the first patient in 27 years that he had encountered with Stills). I am on Celebrex, which seems to keep the inflammation down. my finger joints are much better. Wrist pain has been the most debilitating. Although I am concerned about side effects, I am thankful that I can function with minor pain most of the time, instead of arresting pain most of the time. I can play the piano for a reasonable time. I can type-for a while it was almost impossible. I even picked up the guitar without suffering for days afterward. I found 2 grams of Vitamin C per day calms the rash symptoms. I still don't know what the triggers are. One night, I went out for coffee and a rich piece of almond mocha torte-and had no rash that night....guess I can't do that every night, though. Maybe the relaxing part was good. I find the rashes are worse with stress. Has anyone investigated long term low dose antibiotics as a treatment-sometimes used for Rheumatoid Arthritis and related diseases? I am thankful for this group-I look forward to getting to know you better. Thanks for your time. Blessings Heidi

Guest guest
Hi Heidi, I'm (27 years old) and I was diagnosed a year ago in May. Right now I'm on prednisone and remicade. I am writing because you mentioned the low dose antibiotics. I had heard of that treatment for rheumatoid arthritis and my mother mentioned it to me. So I asked my rheumatologist about it because I figured what could it hurt. He told me that he uses it for mild rheumatoid or severe osteoarthritis, but he had never heard that it was proven to work with Stills. Who knows though? I guess it's something to ask your doctor about. There's a doctor that I've heard about that uses antibiotics for a lot of different things and especially arthritis because he feels that bacteria might be the root of a lot of these problems. His name is Dr. Merken (sp?) if you want to check him out online (he has a radio show too). I have read the article he wrote about antibiotics and arthritis - kind of interesting. Well, I hope I gave some helpful info. Take care. Buffalo, NY
Guest guest
Welcome also Heidi! You have found some good people in this group. My name is Patty and add the Melt as a nickname. I've been diagnosed since the seventies and am available to be a friend. You sound as if you have a houseful and it must be filled with love and that is the best medicine I know. I hope you like us here and join our family for a long time. As to the vitamin therapy there was only one person a few years ago that found it worked for him but he is no longer with the group and we have no information on that for you. I would say, that would be a good question for your doctor. I too played the violin and for many years was unable to play, but these past few I got another one and can play again. Not as technically as before but it does make me happy. Sometimes we have to set things aside for a while but often we can find other things to fill the void. And I always believe in anything being possible. As I said before, welcome and hope your day is well. Looking back, I see all the pieces of the puzzle--going to bed just freezing and waking up in a sweat. Rash. Joint pain-flaming joint pain. Guest guest
HI Lynn Sorry for the blank email-my mouse is sticky. I am only taking Celebrex, as it seems to be working for now. And I am glad! Thanks Heidi newbie here HI everyone My name is Heidi, and I am from Canada.
