Guest guest
Hello I have been reading your post for months and have never introduced myself. You have all been very helpful. I was very recently (5 months) diagnosed with Samters. My ENT told me about about 3 % of his asthmatic patients have Samter's. He also said I am desperate need of another surgery. I have not done that yet because he told me it would not last long if I did not get my allergies and sensitivities under control and I needed to work that out with my allergist. My allergist is not convinced the salicylate sensitivities has anything to do with the polyps because I also have so many pollen, dander, mold, and dust allergies. I have always had the normal allergies and have tolerated them fine so I know that the salicylates are the main issue! I had my first aspirin reaction (anaphylaxsis) in Nov. 05, sinus surgery June of 06 (about 3 weeks of relief), developed unexplained asthma Nov. 07, 1st time to see an allergist Jan 08, went to a new ENT diagnosed with Samters in FEB. My allergist has told me I need to get to Maintenance on my shots before doing the surgery. I also have other medical problems so I take Human Growth Hormone, I cannot take steroids at all because when I did after my first sinus surgery it made me develop intercranial hypertension aka. psuedotumor cerebri. This causes my fluid pressure to rise in my head which causes me to lose my vision and also caused a clot. I spent 9 days in the hospital and a year on coumadin and diamox. It was not a fun year and I do not want to go back. I am understanding that steroids don't help many of you anyway. I have discovered that I am the most sensitive to any colors on medicines. We also live in a manufactured home. I sometimes wonder if the formaldehyde makes things worse since I have all my asthma attacks when I sleep and in my new car. We are already working toward building a new house. I have started the Feingold diet and this has reduced my Albuterol use. I still need help with the congestion. I am afraid to do anything my doctor's say because so many of the solutions they have offered have made things worse (more medicine). If I took all the prescriptions they have suggested I would own a pharmacy. That is all about my situation. Sorry this is so long. I also have a question. I recently went to a new primary care doctor he recommended a test called Bio Meridian Stress Test. I did some research and it sounds a little out there does anyone have a experience with this? Is it crazy or helpful. My doctor is a licencened Doctor but is know for being opened minded to alternative meds.
