Guest guest
Wyoming: News Kicking The Drug Habit: How Diet and Exercise Can Help by Ilene Olson Erna sen contracted whooping cough when she was 2-years-old. Now nearly seven decades later, she still is fending off the residual lung problems. Twenty-five years ago she started walking to improve her health. The Lander resident walks several miles each morning - mostly uphill. "It's my choice," she said. "I figure it makes my lungs work." Without that regimen, "I would imagine I would definitely be on oxygen," she said. "Maybe I would be unable to take care of myself. I think it would be real easy to be an invalid." A bone density test in 1996 revealed sen was developing osteoporosis. At that point, she got more serious about her physical conditioning, alternating daily exercise workouts with weightlifting twice per week. Afterward, she goes for her daily walk, weather permitting. "My mornings are pretty well tied into exercise and taking care of myself," she said. Tests have shown sen's exercise routine, along with preventative medication prescribed by her doctor, have halted her osteoporosis and even improved the condition of her bones. Improved physical fitness and nutrition often can result in less dependence on expensive medications, said Dr. Ingrid Kohlstadt, former director of the City-County Health Department in Cheyenne. Better nutrition, exercise and more sleep can take off extra pounds, reduce stress and blood pressure and reduce or eliminate the physical symptoms that accompany those problems. Kohlstadt noted that nine of the 10 most frequently prescribed medications are used to treat chronic conditions, such as arthritis, acid reflux and high blood pressure. "Most of these medications are treating the smoke rather than the fire," she added. "Lifestyle changes can treat the fire." But Kohlstadt cautioned that people contemplating changes in physical routines should consult their physicians first. In addition to assessing physical condition and health needs, a physician can give advice on improving nutrition and how to start an exercise routine safely. That may include referrals to other experts, such as physical therapists and nutritionists. For problems such as arthritis, money may be better spent on treating the problem than on medications to treat only the pain and inflammation, Kohlstadt said. She suggested that people visit with their doctor about possible benefits of physical therapy, chiropractic treatments or massage therapy. She compared those approaches to aligning the wheels on a car. "Once the body is bent a certain way, you occasionally need an adjustment" she said. "People should watch out for their structural health. Good structural health is of prime importance. Also know that physical activity makes so much difference. Basically, exercise is the best investment anybody can make. People shouldn't try to be their own doctor. The first step is to communicate with their primary doctor and let them know they want to make some lifestyle changes. Most doctors are very willing to help out." Wyoming State Pharmacist Roxanne Homar agreed. "With many conditions, patients can control them better by taking good care of themselves," Homar said. But she added, "I would never recommend that a patient wean off a medication without consulting healthcare providers. The best thing is for people to really communicate with their healthcare providers so they can be educated consumers." Often, people hear about "natural" remedies and decide to substitute them for more expensive prescriptions. "'Natural' does not necessarily mean 'safe,'" she cautioned. "The concern we have as pharmacists is those medications are not FDA approved and they can interact with prescriptions." When contemplating those types of remedies, patients should tell their doctors or pharmacists, she said. "If the healthcare provider is not working with all of the information, those types of things can slip through the cracks," Homar said. Often, a better way to reduce pharmaceutical costs is to take advantage of lower-priced generic substitutes for brand-name prescriptions, Homar said. Open communication with healthcare professionals will facilitate that as well, she added. Patients can ask their physicians to prescribe generics when possible, and pharmacists to advise them if a generic has become available. Or, in many cases, an older, less expensive medication will work as well as a new, higher priced one, Homar said.
Guest guest
Hey ! It all depends on how badly you want to lose those pounds. You could go on a moderate diet and lose it in 4-5 months or you can lose it quicker. How? Go on a 300 - 500 calorie / low fat diet and try to burn off as much as you ingest during the day. Eat only once which should be the above calories excluding about a 100 calories on snacking throughout the day. Trust me, baring you are fit to exercise, you should not have any problems losing this weight by Feb. You can burn off 10-13 pounds per month, more if you are devoted. But don't make the mistake that could have killed me. DO your research on herbal pills and consult with your doctor if you are feeling fatigued, tired, etc. Good luck > >> > > > > >> > > > > >> > > > From: james <jimevans_2000@> > >> > > > Subject: Testosterone and > >> penis > >> > > health? > >> > > > > >> > > > Date: Tuesday, November 2, 2010, 2:06 PM > >> > > > > >> > > > > >> > > >  > >> > > > > >> > > > > >> > > > > >> > > > I've been injecting T for many years now, > >> but due to > >> > > financial stress have been unable to for the past > >> 6-8 weeks. > >> > > I'm also actively pursuing a penis health program > >> which > >> > > included jelqing every day. Guest guest
I can testify that exercise alone won't let you lose significant weight. I've been trying to get below 200 lbs for nearly 3 years now. I got down as low as 206 then back to 218. ( At 5' 9 " I am technically obese, but at 198 lbs I would be merely overweight - BMI < 30 ). I have managed to lose my gut and am much more muscular than I've ever been. I started out just walking and then water aerobics, elliptical trainer and pin-select weight machines. Here's the problem, especially for someone on " T " . Muscle weighs more than fat for a given volume. I've lost abdominal fat, and other fat, but really bulked up on the muscle. Since I walk so much, my legs and gluetal muscles are really large. Likewise my shoulders and upper arms. I use a " fly " machine and at a 30 lb setting can do virtually unlimited reps. I usually stop at 50, but could do 50 more. Weight wise all this muscle keeps building up. Many studies have shown that exercise alone will not cause you to lose any significant amount to weight. This is even more true for those of us on " T " . The paradox here is that if you have a highly restricted calorie diet, you won't have the energy to do the sort of exercise I've been doing. > > My doc called and said I need to lose at least 30 pounds. Anybody have tips on diet and or exercise. I am on 5mg of androgel for the past 7 months. I feel good have more energy just need to lose weight and get in shape
Guest guest
I find that a high protein diet works best for me to lose weight, probably because it is high in nutritional value. When you are cutting calories, you want to make sure that what you eat is high in nutritional value. I also make sure to take a multivitamin. Calories can sneak into your diet, if you are not vigilant. There is a web site which I like for figuring out the nutritional value and caloric value of foods: http://nutritiondata.self.com/. It even has a feature to you to determine if a food is good for dieting. You can also compose recipes, and use recipes as components of recipes. In addition, it rates protein quality by amino acid ratios, which can be very useful for a vegetarian diet. Also, avoid alcoholic beverages. They destroy testosterone, anyway. But they also increase the storage of fat in your body because of changes that occur to your metabolism while you are drinking. So, while a bottle of wine is around 700 calories, the effect on your body is more than consuming 700 calories of food. Alcohol is also a waste of calories, when you are trying to maximize your nutrition. If you are exercising, then one trick is to exercise in the morning before your first meal. This consumes fat, and also raises your metabolism rate to start the day. Keep in mind that it takes more calories to maintain muscle than it does to maintain fat. So, if you put muscle on while you are losing fat, then it becomes easier to keep the fat off. The challenge to doing this is that it takes a lot of protein to put muscle on. You might consider a protein supplement, such as myoplex. Guest guest
I thought I'd share this diet of mine. I would eat Nature Valley Honey and Oat Bars for Breakfest (two come in a package). I might have one bar early in the morning and maybe the other bar around 10. For lunch, I bought a footlong subway sub turkey cheese, mustard, veggies, on wheat. Eat 1/2 of it for lunch eat 1/2 for dinner. Eat fruit between if I got hungry. I lost 70lbs in about 7 months. - Marc > > > >> > > > > > > >> > > > > > > >> > > > From: james <jimevans_2000@> > > > >> > > > Subject: Testosterone and > > > >> penis > > > >> > > health? > > > >> > > > > > > >> > > > Date: Tuesday, November 2, 2010, 2:06 PM > > > >> > > > > > > >> > > > > > > >> > > >  > > > >> > > > > > > >> > > > > > > >> > > > > > > >> > > > I've been injecting T for many years now, > > > >> but due to > > > >> > > financial stress have been unable to for the past > > > >> 6-8 weeks. > > > >> > > I'm also actively pursuing a penis health program > > > >> which > > > >> > > included jelqing every day.
