I have had polyps/asthma etc for many years and have had all the usual issues

with SOS ,prednisone etc-a mixed bag of success. Like most people the SOS comes

and goes as does the asthma. Diet has helped, also nose rinses and fish oil tabs.

Recently my asthma has become quite bad and I changed GPs and got prescribed the

above drug(previously I was on Flixotide). To my surprise not only has the

asthma been well controlled I have regained the SOS and it has come back very

well-smelling all sorts of things again.

Could it be that the Symbicort is reducing the polyps because when I breathe out

after the puffer the residual drug passes thru my nose and reduces the polyps?

I am on 3 puffs, twice a day which the pharmacist said was a big dose. (only for

the first week then back to 2 puffs twice a day)

When asthma is properly controlled after a period of it " creeping up " on you

it's like a new burst of energy-I feel fit again-the return of the SOS was an

unexpected bonus.

Any comments?

,

It could be as you say (ie breathing back through the nose). Also, switching

steroids when the current one no longer works is often useful. Anyway, it's a

nice thing to get back asthma control and SOS. Watch for any side-effect in case

the dose is too high.
