Guest guest
Re-post. Sorry if it appears twice, but 1st try has not posted. Hi Lori, Sorry the style is telegraphic because it's already late here tonight, but here are a few comments, if that can help a bit : - it's recommended not to take quinolones if the tendon is ALREADY inflamed ; can't remember where I read it, but the tendon should be left to heal - no jogging, climbing staircases or whatever, especially no quinolones ; many quinolone ruptures happen while exercising ; - as said in another post, maybe the snared polyp area will heal ; of course, the tissues don't like pulling their bulge off, so they may react by inflammation, added to the already existing eosinophil inflammation the polyp generated during its lifetime ; - antibiotic : why did they prescribe levaquin ? as a precaution pre-surgery, or post-snaring, or what ? If it is to fight off infection, what about augmentin or a macrolide ? - if no ongoing infection, why an antibio ? Won't protect against viruses. - Azythromycin is known to have a good record against biofilms and some inflammations, especially pulsed azythromycyn (ex : 250mg once a day, 3 days a week). To fight off existing infection : regular, steady, normal dose azythromycine or other macrolide ; to calm inflammation or to prevent biofilm formation : pulsed, low-dose azy. Rationale : ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS AND CHEMOTHERAPY, Jan. 2008, p. 137–145 Vol. 52, No. 1 - Subinhibitory Concentrations of Azithromycin Decrease Nontypeable Haemophilus influenzae Biofilm Formation and Diminish Established Biofilms. But may cause macrolide resistance, though. Now, this *$!x & @%! so-called " rich-text-post editor " destroyed the rest of my long post while reviewing it. Sorry but I'll be even more telegraphic than the first version, don't hesitate to ask for more info. - corticoids indeed have double-sided effect but adding singulair or cromoglycate logically offsets this ; - irrigating with 2mL liquid won't reach all areas, 20ml needed to fill all, 30ml+ if sinuses opened => useful to irrigate a bit longer so all molecules can " touch " mucosa, - gravity-draining (face towards floor) 15-30 min helps if ciliae out, - evict all high-glycemic index sugars, ie have all sugars come from fruits and vegetables and some/a little bread/pasta, 2 weeks should bring real effect, can't recommend it too highly; - no acetic acid : alcohol, even vinegar (=COX-inhibitor activity) ; taking COX-inhibitors while on corticoids and LT-inhibitors is like pushing on both sides of a door - the weakest side will fall first. If in doubt about anything check PubMed if it has COX-ib activity and no LT-ib activity to balance it. - low-fat diet : watch out ; ok to half-evict AA, low O6, high O3, but don't totally evict 1 class of fats, otherwise side effects ; - osteoporosis : really justifies testing vitD, supplementing Ca+vitD, - supplements : not too much, not to little, tailored to situation and diet, by class of supplement ; - what about Dr. Chilton's medical food if it is still around? - ASA desens is still an option. - cromoglycates : really help, either irrig or nebulization, but take 1 week for effect, 1 month for full effect, - Lactoferrin+B12+moderate Zinc : should help (sinusitis, biofilms => low on Lactoferrin, Samter's linked to B12, Zn); - allergies : can be desensed if there is one and you stumble upon it through RAST or other (not exhaustive, can't spot all) ; - go to bed before 9pm, definitely before 10pm : proven to help against Samter's Th2 biais (Univ Lubeck+my interpretation). WHO declared night work " probably canceregenous " . And finally, I'll retype the end in full because this is the most important : polyps don't happen for no reason even though they are self-sustained through eosinophil chemotaxis (unless primary eosinophilia or other rare genetic disease that can be spotted). There has to be a reason, or a sum of reasons. Each has to be addressed and corrected, even if that means procedurally sieving your day from sunrise to sunset. Some reasons can be helped, though with luck or work or both. It took me 2 years to realize my irrigation bottle was contaminated although it is changed every 3 months. Now, I use one drop of bleach to rinse, then dry, then bottled water to rinse off before use. Radical solution. And that is just one cause taken care of. Some reasons will never be corrected : ie viruses cannot be avoided, so the only logical thing to do is to step up the immunity. Some reasons cannot be corrected at a reasonable health price (food eviction may cause side effects). But I am sure sieving can help spot almost all reasons. Science, judging from its pace of advance these recent years, will likely help us control Samter's in the course of our lifetimes. I'm almost 100% sure of that. After all, who would have thought of leukotriene inhibitors 25 years ago ? Getting better is a matter of time and containing the progress of our personal situations while waiting. Hold on. Try all reasonable paths (unreasonable ones may worsen an already bad situation). Sometimes, hope becomes more than an abstract concept. It takes on a palpable meaning. It can be momentarily diminished or lost, but it is always waiting to come BACK. SO, ABOVE ALL, NEVER GIVE UP.
