Beverley,

Here is my recipe that I have used every day and night for 3+ years

1/2 tsp of baking soda

2 tsp of sea salt

2 cups of distilled water

Warm it in microwave to body temp, then irrigate with the whole amount of water with a 60cc syringe.

Hope this helps!

Dawn,

I wonder if you would share with us:

1. What do you use for med?

2. Do you feel the solution helps a great deal. Three years and you must have positive results.

I take 5 meds regular and am always stuffed up. I wonder if the solution will help me?

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,

I think irrigation is a MUST for anyone with ANY type of sinus problems. Yes, it makes a huge difference for me.

I went thru the aspirin desen at Scripps Feb 02 and it has really changed my life. I still am on meds but feel so much better and actually enjoy being able to smell often.

I currently take: Astilin, Nasonex, Clarinex and Singlair, plus 1300 mg of Aspirin.

Irrigation is just something now that I have to do every day, twice a day. It is just part of my routine. Yes, it is difficult to do when I travel but if I didn't do it, I would pay for it by getting stuffed up and just feel yecky. I feel that irrigation just gets some of the pollens, dust and other stuff out. You have to make sure everything is very clean! Change the syringe at least once a week. Some people will say that you could be forcing other things further up your sinus, but after doing this for years, I have never had a problem with it and would not ever be able to stop, yes I am addicted to saline irrigation, but that isn't a bad thing.

You don't have to use distilled water unless your don't have good

city water.

Jim Mayo-

Water quality is good here,(Stirlingshire, Scotland, UK,)but I always

use pre-boiled water, make a new solution each day, and clean my jar

and syringe each week in boiling water. I also use rock salt, as

table salt has aditives to keep it flowing.

With regard to nasal irrigation, another alternative is to use a

WaterPik with

a Grossan tip with your normal buffered saline solution.

http://www.ent-consult.com/

The Grossan tip was invented by an ENT named Murray Grossan. It fits

into your

regular WaterPik. The theory is that the pulse of the water through

the

WaterPik is set at the same rate as your natural cilia movement rate.

I don't

know if it is true or not but it does make sense.

I know you can get the Grossan tip (kind of like a big WaterPik

irrigation tip

with a bulbous end to seal off the nostril) from the Internet. I've

seen numerous sites offering them. You may find

them at some pharmacies.
