I did have a very definitive reaction, but came out of desense in a somewhat similar state, though not on meds like you. But the person who did it said, "in a year you'll feel much better." I had to decrease my aspirin to 650 mg//day (I'm fairly small framed) but it has made a huge difference. No polyps for one thing, I'm able to eat everything, and have an (extremely reduced) sense of smell. So basically I think you need to give it more time. If you're still miserable, I'd say drop the dose and give it more time. On Apr 22, 2011, at 5:15 PM, philget wrote: I got desensitized three weeks ago. I didn't have a definitive reaction during desense, possibly because I was loaded up with Singulair, Zyflo and prednisone to minimize complications. I now take 1300 mg of aspirin a day. My nose may be a bit better but I'm not sure about my asthma. I actually had one of my worst asthma attacks in years a week after desense. After that post-desense attack, they put me on daily Zyflo and Singulair in addition to the aspirin. I don't know what's going on here. Maybe I'm expecting too much too soon or maybe I wasn't really aspirin sensitive (in spite of my history of severe asthma, sinusitis with polyps and one bad asthma attack many years ago after aspirin). In any case, I'm disappointed and confused. If anyone can identify with any of the above or has any helpful comments, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

I don't know much about it these days since I did the apririn desense about 20 years ago I guess. But man 1300 mg? If I took that I would be in the hospital in 45 minutes getting benidryl and epi injections.

The challange started with a mere 20.5 mg and it was enough to give me one of the worst attacks ever. After the desense I was only taking 325 mg / day and only did that for a few months until I needed the polyp suregery again. I was probably close when I did the test so I think it might have been too late to help.

Oh and one other thing, remember I just had surgery tuesday the 19th. I went for the post-op today and he removed the packing. Well, when I came home and rinsed my nose I COULD SMELL SALT!!!!! WOOT!!! I might get my SOS back after all ! I'm so excited..

Desense if very different these days -- you are given meds to cushion the attack and someone babysitting you to get you through the bad part -- and once you're past your threshold, which for many is as low as yours was, you can keep upping the dose with no bad results. 1350 is the standard daily post desense dose. Worth a try again, if you can afford it and find a place to do it. On Apr 22, 2011, at 6:45 PM, Crusher Miler wrote:
