Guest guest
Greetings, It is the twilight of the seasons, when we slip betwixt the worlds of light and dark, day and night, warmth and cold. The Sun rises and sets lower in the sky, the days grow shorter and the shadows long. Winter looms. We are at the cusp of darkness and soon there we must walk. A passage we hope to come through renewed, a passage not without risk. " Hold on, hold on, through the darkness, until the dawn. " * Loss runs like a river through our lives, it is the shadow companion with which we take our earthly journey. Many are the influences that touch our journey: family, friends and fleeting encounters, teachers, leaders and distant heroes. Those that have passed away live on in us and we pass on that influence to others in an unending chain. In this season of the crone, we especially remember those who lived long lives, seeking their strength and wisdom. Step into the darkening night and speak their names, hear their reply. " It's the blood of the ancients, that flows through our veins And the forms pass, but the circle remains the same. " We shape this seasonal pause into celebration, the public Halloween and the pagan Samhain, Mexico's Day of the Dead and in India, Divali, the Hindu festival of lights and ancestors. The need has been a part of human life long before calendars. Falling halfway between Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice, in more ancient eras it was observed on a New Moon at this time. In 2007, that New Moon is Friday, November 9, in the deep and mysterious sign of Scorpio. " Though my soul may set in darkness it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too dearly to be fearful of the night. " In this twilight time, especially in the last days of the waning Moon, souls can become unmoored, restless. Not all passages are clean, not every one has the energy to pass all at once. The newly passed sometimes lose their way. There are pieces here and there, soul fragments caught in limbo. You may know some of these souls, souls of trauma, souls who died unhappy, souls who left this life with their energy weak. " Element of fire, spirit of light, Essence of life, awaken the night. " Light a candle for them in these next three nights. Lift them up in your thoughts, move them forward. Burn copal or myrrh to nourish them on their way. Send them with love and compassion into the mystery, know that there can be faith even in the absence of belief. Chant the last line of the Heart Sutra, " Om, ga te, g ate, para ga te, para sam ga te, bodhi, svaha. " " Gone, gone, gone beyond where the wisdom is. " In these unmoored moments of annual twilight, the illusion of time loosens and we slip past the veil to know not only our ancestors but the oneness of all life. Look into the night sky, the season is right. Look for the eternal web of souls. Weave your connections tonight. peace. . . Amy Spiritual freedom is my birthright. I am a free thinker. I am able to rise above mental prejudices and stereotypes of others. I am a free thinker. Nobody and nothing can manipulate me or deceive me. I am a free thinker. I freely choose truth and love. Today, I embrace a greater degree of spiritual freedom. __________________________________________________
