Guest guest
, Personally I would not suck down anything with aspartame on a regular basis. I don't think anyone knows enough about it. I do know all of my doctors recommended against it during my pregnancies and my sister in-law ( a doctor ) says many in the medical field believe it has strong links to the rise in Alzheimers. As I don't know how much nor how long you have been drinking water, I can only give you my personal experience: I loathed plain water, rarely drank it. Five years ago I became determined to drink it and started with a gallon a day, now it is usually two. I peed ALL of the time, actually still pee more than anyone I know, and I greatly disliked it....wanted something with some flavor. Now, five years later it is nearly the only thing I drink and most often the first thing I crave. C
Guest guest
I don't know about the cheatin' part but it tastes wonderful. I am an addict. I love the Key Lime. Sometimes they have 2 liters for a dollar!! drinks has anyone had this clear american white grape from walmart? It has no calories, no sodium, no carbs, no sugars. it does have carbonated water and citric acis, asparmente. It is so good. Is that cheatin? Does it count as water? Guest guest
I came home today and tried water with lemon and equal. It was good, but I do like water ok. I just need some variety. -- In , <tinifer@s...> wrote: > > , > > Personally I would not suck down anything with aspartame on a regular basis. I don't think anyone knows enough about it. Guest guest
Mendota Springs is a goood sparkling water when you want something with a little flavor. No artificial sweeteners. Just water and natural flavorings. No cals, carbs ect. Comes in lemon, strawberry, rasberry and more > drinks > > has anyone had this clear american white grape from walmart? Guest guest
A bit of info............. Stefan knocks back a carton of orange juice with every meal to get it down-he says water doesn't do the trick (it's not heavy enough) although water seems to work for the chest pain if he has it straight away. Guest guest
Hi Sally - many of us cannot drink any orange juice or anything acid, but soft drinks and fizzy drinks seem to help. Guest guest
I'm trying to at least change the orange juice for diluted orange squash-I feel that juice is too acid. He does get fizzy drinks sometimes-if he's out and has a problem with his food going down,it's a case of 'whatever' then! But preference at home is still orange juice. Maybe it's a habit I can gradually help him to change........ Sally London UK > Hi Sally - many of us cannot drink any orange juice or anything acid, but > soft drinks and fizzy drinks seem to help. Guest guest
Steve asked about beer drinking. I've had samters all my life but didn't start chasing down allergies and intolerances until in my early 20s, which was a few years after my asthma developed into what I now call noticeable attacks. By then I'd had my first operation to remove polyps. First sinus symptoms date back to toddler years. In my 20s I noticed that I couldn't drink wines - mild to severe wheezing and asthma reaction immediately. We eventually decided sulphur was the problem. My husband was a winery laboratory technician and he would always sniff the wine before I took a sip. Unlike me he had a sense of smell! Cheap wines have more sulphur. Shiraz wines also affected me, cabernet ones not so much, but any cheap wine always had the high sulphur. I think the quality of wine has changed in Australia, for the better, although I have only found one brand of cask wine that I can tolerate (when my overall stress levels are not high). Beer and cider I could sometimes tolerate. I often found that I could tolerate beer but now cider, and then at other times it was the other way around. For years I could not drink either without my sinuses becoming congested. Wine didn't congest my sinues, unless a full asthma attack developed. Spirits were okay, but often gave me heartburn, which triggered asthma. Plus the soft drink mixers use benzoate preservative which I tested positive for during an elimination diet. :-( For years I pretended to be drinking socially by mixing apple juice with soda water and acting tipsy! The only drink that did not affect me at all was champagne. In my 40s I had altered my lifestyle to the degree that my overall stress load was considerably lessened and this meant that my reactions to food and beverages were no longer very obvious. I now find I can eat and drink anything (in moderation of course) provided I'm making sure not to overload myself in other ways. For instance, the other day I did a day of painting and stayed overnight at a friend's house. This places a huge stress on my body so for the next couple of days I stayed quietly at home avoiding foods that I know will trigger symptoms. Usually I can eat these foods. Some people have acute reactions - and I do too, especially to aerosal perfumes, deodorants and sprays - but I believe that our immunological systems are damaged or different in some way that makes our cells prone to overreacting to any kind of stress (physical, chemical, emotional, etc). cheers Beverley

Guest guest
(T) Nothing seems too wrong.. if we drop the pressure on ourselves to be a certain way (i.e. i SHOULD want to have the energy to spend three hours cooking, I SHOULD look a certain way, etc..), we might have better luck doing things when we FEEL like doing them... I don't like to cook much either.. sometimes, I don't even want to make toast or Ramen.. but I don't need to feel badly about that.. I am probably tired and hungry. And, I LOVE WATER!! sorry, but even (especially?) during a binge, water is the greatest tasting thing in the world... it feel so much better than excess food ever could. that all being said, I BINGED TODAY!! i was soo tired around three o'clock and had a snack that turned into a binge... i'm a little upset over it because.. calorie counting really triggers me to " rebel " .. i can be a restrictive eater, too. I am trying to drop the shame and negativity surrounding all this. it sucks and i hate feeling the " f-word " (f*t).. I have to replace the calorie counting with something healthier. I need to trust myself and the Universe. There is soo much more out there than my own crazy thoughts and behaviors. I'm upset just writing this. Guest guest
When I started the program I didn´t know what to eat, didn´t know what to shop and didn´t even know how or what to cook. I worked on the episodes and do my very best, even if it was to eat a sandwich that was what I could do in that moment, I was like stuck on my emotions and I couldn´t do anything else, just keep listening to the podcast. I am in a 12 steps fraternity and I leave my problem in the hands of god but trying at the same time to do my very best. And then something happen, I joined a gym, I joined sparkpeople for nutrition and cooking advice, I start doing my grocery shopping different, and start trying to cook. It´s been a week and a half since that and I just now that it wasn´t will power what change me, it was an inside out change, that with the help of IOWL, a 12 steps program and God was possible. I still over eat but I´m commited, going to the gym and doing better food choices everyday. Keep listening to the podcast, to the homework and I also advice you to join sparkpeople. The change happens if we have faith and we work for it. Lola > > Ok, here I sit, thirsty. Instead of downing a bottle of water, I am brainstorming things to drink instead. Why isn't it easy to just get up and drink what is ready instead feeling the thirst? I really would prefer to finish the small dews in the ref and then feel guilt and face the chastisement of my favorite half. Or I could get up and make tea or coffee, but I am too lazy for that right now. I find that is my mindset for all food (too much trouble), while I will stand for three hours cooking in the kitchen for my family. Really screwed up:( any ideas? > T > Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry® >
Guest guest
I'm sending you lots of (hugs) Avie. There's absolutely no reason to be ashamed. We are all going through the same struggles and we're here supporting you and each other. I've found that when I feel " fat, " it's usually a cover for some other feeling (like not feeling worthy or deserving). If you dig a little deeper, do you really feel physically fat or is there some other emotion lurking beneath? I used to be an obsessive calorie counter too. Even when I stopped consciously counting calories, every time I ate something, my subconscious would mentally calculate how much I was consuming. I can't tell exactly when the shift occurred but it was around a couple months after I started listening to IOWL. As I finally learned to tune into my body's hunger, I realized that I didn't need to count calories because my body is smarter than me and will tell me when it's had enough or wants more. For your next meal, could you try trusting yourself and listening to your body? Sit quietly somewhere, eat slowly and savour your food. And lastly, thank the part of you that was trying to give you something good. I bet that part of you was wanting to help you wake up and keep going through the rest of the day. With love, Yuna > > Someone else has mentioned that.  I don't know why I don't remember it when I am in the store.  Subconscious? Guest guest
Great job Lola! It's a great reminder to me that we never give up on ourselves (we may fall down, but we get up again, we may over-eat but we start over again) - no matter what, we truly refuse to give up on ourselves and we keep going. it's one of the things that inspires me the most in reading everyone's posts - we are all in different places (physically, geographically, age, etc.) but have so much in common. ________________________________ From: skinny_lola <skinny_lola@...> weightloss Sent: Friday, March 11, 2011 4:51 PM Subject: Re: Drinks When I started the program I didn´t know what to eat, didn´t know what to shop and didn´t even know how or what to cook. Guest guest
Avie, Sorry that WE had a binge today. You would think that the bloated and yucky feeling after a binge is enough to make us not want to do it. I, too, despise that feeling, but I find myself eating more to rid myself of that yucky feeling...a little counterproductive, wouldn't you say? ((HUGS)) and start again now...not tomorrow:). We can all learn to differentiate being emotional hunger and physical hunger. Someday.
