aspirin desensitization the slow and easy way

I tried rapid aspirin desensitization and made myself sick so I tied

a different method. I started with a very low dose and took aspirin

once a day increasing the dosage by 25% or less per day. Even 20 mg

made me sick to I talked my pharmacist and we made up a solution so

I could start out with only 5 mg and then work up. He simply

crushed 500 mg of aspirin and added it to 100cc of water in a marked

bottle. I then used an oral medicine syringe to take 5 mg (1 cc) the

first day, 6 mg (1.2 cc) the second day, etc. Once I got up to 40

mg, I started cutting up baby aspirin to get the right dosage. This

method takes a month but I didn't have any problems at all. I am not

a doctor and I can't say this is safe for everyone but it is

certainly safer than the rapid method and a lot more pleasant. I

have put a schedule below in case I haven't been clear. I now take

325 mg a day and it has completely changed my life although I am

still fighting polyps.

Thank you for much for sharing how you did the

desensitation by yourself. I also have desensitized

myself and am very happy with the results. I think

everyone out there needs to make the choice for

themselves. I have been hospitalized for taking

ibuprofen. I took 15mg of aspirin and had a severe

asthma attack. However, I was still able to obtain

enough information in an educated manner to

desensitize myself to aspirin. Again if you have any

worries about having an attack then DON'T TRY IT, but

if you take the necessary precautions and talk to a

physician about the procedure, then there is no reason

not to try it. The first couple of times that I tried

to do it myself I was not completely prepared. For

instance I strongly suggest being on a strong dose of

Prednisone before starting. Also start at a very very

small dose as the man did with the aspirin solution.

Finally, I don't want to start any wars between

different people but I think if you have had an

experience then you should feel free to tell others

about it. No one here is a M.D. that I am aware of,

therefore expressing our own stories should not be

forbidden. Our own experiences should also not be

taken as a prescription to do this on your own.

Hopefully no one takes offense to this message, but

just takes all the information into consideration.

Sincerely,

a
