Naso Neb users?

Are there any here in group? The first time I ever heard of the term Naso-Neb

was here in this group and it was like a light bulb went off in my head.

I got my own nebulizer for my asthma about 6 years ago and that thing has saved

me from going to the hospital many, many times.

Why wouldn't the Naso-Neb be life changing for the polyp and sinusitis issues?!

I looked online and found ASL, a company who markets Topical Sinus Therapies.

They called me and I spoke with one of their sales persons. I got my packet in

the mail and I will certainly be having a conversation with my ENT in the very

near future. (I did try my own home made recipe just out of curiosity but not

something I would do again)

Has anyone here used this type of treatment? How has it worked for you? I am a

bit excited to think my life can be somewhat 'normal' and I won't be left

days/weeks/months behind due to 'another sinus infection'.

And the possibility of never having to use a nasal spray again.....OMG!

I think there are a lot of users in the group. I believe most folks use

budesonide. I, unfortunately, had a rare allergic reaction to budesonide (which

apparently can happen when you have been on predisone within the last 12

months), so have just been using the nasal neb with saline only, which has still

been great.

My doctor just gave me a script to try mometazone in the nasal neb. I just got

the shipment from ASL, and am excited to try it. Has anyone else use

mometazone?

I have been using the NasoNeb for about 15 months and it has been life-changing

for me. I started out with Mometasone, but insurance suddenly dropped coverage,

so my doctor switched me to Budesonide and that has been just as effective.

Before I started on the NasoNeb, my doctor put me on a short course of

prednisone to shrink my polyps and get my sense of smell back. I think that was

key, because I started out with the nebulizer when my sinuses were clear, and

they have been clear ever since.

I had had 4 sinus surgeries and each time my polyps would return within 6 months

and I had spent much of the previous 10 years without my sense of smell. So you

can imagine how wonderful it is to have my sense of smell continually for 15

months. I use the Nasoneb once a day. I have only had one cold, and my doctor

recommended using the Nasoneb 3X a day until I cleared up and though I was

skeptical, it worked!

I hope this helps, and good luck!

I have been using the nasoneb nebulizer for about 2 months I started shortly

after my second sinus surgery. I use it twice a day with 10cc of sterile saline

and budesonide. I think it has been working but only time will tell if the

polyps grow back. I dont know if it works as well as pressure based delivery

systems (Neilmed, Sinus irrigators) but their is probably less risk of infection

because the saline is sterile and you use less of it. The only down side is it

(at least for me )took awhile to get the hang of it.

Can you tell me what the dosage of the budesonide is? 10 cc is the amount of saline AND budesonide. I'd like to know the dosage of the budesonide itself.

And could you explain a little further on the "get the hang of it" part. I'm going to be doing it for the first time using my regular nebulizer and connecting it to the hose for my cpap machine. Any tips would be appreciated.

0.6mg mometasone (this is diluted into a vial that contains 2mg total, but the

concentration of mometasone is 0.6mg) + 10mg saline

I had an allergic reaction to budesonide, but when I did try it, it was

prescribed at 0.6mg concentration of budesonide (in a mixture totaling 2mg) +

10mg of saline.

Getting the hang of it: the nasal neb relies on vaporization, rather than sheer

force of the liquid shooting up your nose. You have to hold it a little away

from your nostrils so that the mixture comes out as a vapor. If you hold it at,

or place it in, your nostrils, it does not reach the vapor state and will not

reach a state of bliss inside your sinuses. You also want to make sure the

angle hits the back of your sinuses. It takes some playing around with, but you

will get the hang of it. The pharmacists at ASL are fabulous and will walk you

through the entire process. They are also very easy to get a hold of and will

answer any questions you may have.

I'm sorry, the Budesonide is 1: .05mg/2mL vial (TEVA) with 2: 5mL sterile

saline vials. The whole process should not take much more than 2 minutes. And

its better to stop at around that time than to keep using it. With a neti pot

the saline goes out the other nose with the nasoneb the air needs a place to go.

Since both nostrils are being used the back of the throat needs to be kept open

at all times or else it goes back into the nasoneb. And just like with a nasal

spray you have to aim to get the medication to reach the sinuses. The people at

the company are also very helpful at explaining proper use. Also, are you using

their nebulizer because I don't think it will work if you are using a regular

lung nebulizer. The particles are much larger (and need to be for it to work)

than fron a lung nebulizer.

So are you saying that I could not just attach a separate hose with Naso Neb attachment on my current machine (which I use for my lungs)?Hmmmm. I wonder how much does it cost and are insurance companies paying for this?

The nebulizer is the same unit (essentially a powerful air pump). The

difference is the cup, which is under patent. Probably costs a cent to make,

but to us it is $100 item.

My insurance covered the entire nebulizer and cup unit in full, no questions

asked.

My ENT said that the compounding of the meds for nasal use is different than

that for lungs. Maybe this is the smaller particles?

Oh, and Crusher, the pharmacy that has the patent on the machine is ASL. They

do everything mail order. It usually arrives in 2 days after calling for a

refill.
