Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have been following this group for a while, but haven't had much to add as yet. I just wanted to tell you all about my latest experience with diet and health! Though I certainly don't suffer as many of you seem to, I recently had my 3rd nasal polyp removal surgery, have had asthma my whole life and also am allergic to what seems like everything! I am waiting to see yet another specialist this week to confirm Samters. BUT, in the meantime, I spend ALOT of time googling and trying to figure out why I am so ill and fatigued and allergic all the time. I had started the low sals diet about 3 months ago - after my last operation. This initially helped me enormously and I thought it was THE answer. But then I started getting all my old symptoms back again - mainly constant snotty nose, amongst the fatigue and chronic IBS etc etc.... Anyway, not being satisfied that it was sals sensitivity i kept up my googling until I came across oxalates! I figured i had nothing to lose and everything to gain so put myself on the low oxalate diet and added some supplements as recommended like calcium citrate. WELL, it has been 3 weeks and I am a NEW person - well maybe more my OLD self again! I have SO much energy I am going to the gym and even went swimming yesterday. It is spring here in Australia and so the air is full of pollen and I was gardening yesterday - with barely a sniffle~! I did have a slight worsening of symptoms for a week or so - including about a handful of yellow discharge from my nose one day - ewwww! But i feel SO much better! Ironically, many of the foods i was eating on the low sals diet were no no's on this diet, so i was probably making myself worse - esp gorging on cashews! I just want to say that if u haven't had much improvement on the low sals diet then consider giving this a go - I am CONVINCED it is the root of ALL my health issues. Some useful links are here http://www.lowoxalate.info/ http://www.thevpfoundation.org/vpfoxalate.htm or do your own research - also the group trying low oxalates has been a HUGE help and great source of info! There seems to be very little research into this area so that may explain why there is little info about it and why a link has not been made as yet to general health. Good luck to you all
Guest guest
Just started to look into this after your letter. One site says Vit D and fish oil are to be avoided. And Vit C. So this would be very different. Alas, chocolate is bad. But hooray, red wine is fine...On Oct 16, 2011, at 6:14 PM, meg33p wrote: Hi Everyone, I have been following this group for a while, but haven't had much to add as yet.
