Guest guest
I took a short course of prednisone starting 9 July this year for 7 days.First day 2 tabs 25mg each tab, second day 1 and 1/2 tabs, next 3 days 1 and 1/2 tabs each day then tapering off over the next 2 days to nothing. The polyps shrunk and I used nasal rinse(with baking soda and salt added)daily starting with the first dose of Prednisone plus an occasional Symbicort inhaler dose in the nose.Because drug names vary from country to country Symbicort is called a Turbohaler here and the ingredients are budesonide and eformoterol All went well for nearly 3 months-good SOS no nose congestion and asthma under control. Then I got a head cold/flu and now the polyps are back again same as ever. Does this sound typical? ie that a cold/flu brings the polyps back again. Is it possible that if I didn't get the head cold I would be free of the polyps today? Thanks
Guest guest
Sounds pretty usual unfortunately. Just getting over a cold myself, and although my polyps and asthma were in reasonable shape before, I now have a very congested nose with polyps. Colds induce inflammation and increased muscus production, which are nectar to polyp growth, though it is not invariable that severe polyps growth will follow, as I have had a cold where this didn't happen automatically. > > I took a short course of prednisone starting 9 July this year for 7 days.First day 2 tabs 25mg each tab, second day 1 and 1/2 tabs, next 3 days 1 and 1/2 tabs each day then tapering off over the next 2 days to nothing. > > The polyps shrunk and I used nasal rinse(with baking soda and salt added)daily starting with the first dose of Prednisone plus an occasional Symbicort inhaler dose in the nose.Because drug names vary from country to country Symbicort is called a Turbohaler here and the ingredients are budesonide and eformoterol > > All went well for nearly 3 months-good SOS no nose congestion and asthma under control. Then I got a head cold/flu and now the polyps are back again same as ever. > Does this sound typical? ie that a cold/flu brings the polyps back again. > Is it possible that if I didn't get the head cold I would be free of the polyps today? > Thanks > >
Guest guest
Hi : Similar experience for me this year. Got an upper respiratory tract infection after spending 3-weeks with my Boston GrandKids (I'm in Nor Cal). Lost my SOS and congestion increased. My doc prescribed a antibiotic ointment to dissolve in my saline (salt+bicarb) and shampoo nasal rinse. My SOS returned within 24-hours and the congestion returned to normal in 48-hours. The bad persistent cough cleared up in 3-days. Your mileage may vary! Good Luck > > > > I took a short course of prednisone starting 9 July this year for 7 days.First day 2 tabs 25mg each tab, second day 1 and 1/2 tabs, next 3 days 1 and 1/2 tabs each day then tapering off over the next 2 days to nothing. > > > > The polyps shrunk and I used nasal rinse(with baking soda and salt added)daily starting with the first dose of Prednisone plus an occasional Symbicort inhaler dose in the nose.Because drug names vary from country to country Symbicort is called a Turbohaler here and the ingredients are budesonide and eformoterol > > > > All went well for nearly 3 months-good SOS no nose congestion and asthma under control. Then I got a head cold/flu and now the polyps are back again same as ever. > > Does this sound typical? ie that a cold/flu brings the polyps back again. > > Is it possible that if I didn't get the head cold I would be free of the polyps today? > > Thanks > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Carl: I don't remember the name. It was prescribed by my doc. He said the over the counter stuff was not good for nasal rinse. > > > > Hi : > > > > Similar experience for me this year.
