Guest guest
Hi Everyone! I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. I have it on every level of my spine. Ive had Thoracic Spine Surgery. I recently went to an orthopedic doctor and they felt more spine surgeries would not benefit me at all. I am going to be 62 April 3rd. I had fallen from a ladder in the shed a year earlier, and added more damage to my spine. I have bulged, slipped, ruptured discs and a cyst a S2. At first I thought a Spinal Epidermal might be the ticket, but after considering it for awhile waiting on the appointment for the procedure. I came to the conclusion, in my case, I said no. For two reasons. The dye they put in ,and the placement of the needles caused my husbands arachanitis the membrane that covers the brain to burn. He had three spine surgeries. I had a lumbar epidermal when our second child was born, no problem at that time. secondly, but the main reason was how could I tell if i was overdoing it and causing more damage to my spine if I couldn't feel the pain? So I decided to live with it. Trying to be careful as possible and at this point in my life, lying down whenever possible. I have a dukes mixture of arthritic conditions and other issues as well. Im on strong medication . Ive tried to lower the doses at times and I realize every time I try it why Im on it. Also have GERD, Asthma, sleep apnea and going blind. I read your messages here about doctors going amuck with spine surgeries and I quite agree for the most part. I guess these docs I went to didn't see much of a point since my whole spine is shot. Just would like to mention one more thing. I depend On Our Father in Heaven a whole lot. I get breaks in the pain. HE keeps me sane and I know that there is an important reason why HE allows the suffering. Ive learned many things because of it. I want to thank the person that put that article about Doctors going overboard on surgeries. A man once told my husband and myself years ago,(He really had a bad spine) that if we could endure it without surgery, that there was a chance the body would eventually heal it. It actually worked for him. It took 12 years he said. I believe with all my heart because of living with my hubby that had 3 spine surgery failures, that he would have been better off if he could have waited a while longer. He says the same thing, looking back on it. He remembered his first surgeon standing by the door smoking and his hands shaking from nerves. He said that should have been a tip off that he had gone to someone that was just starting in the business. Anyway. Our children have never known there dad to be out of pain. And he was unable to do things with them his entire life. Yet, there was great love in our household and though my husband and myself were and are disabled, With God's help they came from a happy home, and due to the suffering with the spine became more sensitive to other people's pain. I can't go into the way they butchered his spine, unbelievable. I can only say if you can get away with not having surgery unless you are going paralysied like I was its best to try a different route. Thanks for your time and listening to me. All of you that suffer are in my prayers (no kidding) Our Father knows your names and I pray for you daily. Sincerely Eileen Hines
