Guest guest
Next week I am going to begin a Rush Immunotherapy..... I will get a series of allergy shots in a total of 4 weeks, versus over an extended period of time. I guess it is sort of like aspirin desensitizing. Afterwards, I will get shots every 2 weeks or 4 weeks....Has anyone here had that done? Any experiences you would like to share? Thanks! Guest guest
I've had immuno therapy done, but mine took much longer. I did my shots at low doses twice a week for over a year. I showed local reaction regularly, so they dosed up very slowly. I wish it had gone faster and they had been more aggressive. It took a long time, but once it worked, it has been great! I don't even need OTC allergy medications unless I travel to another part of the country that has different pollen. Good Luck! Jennie > > Next week I am going to begin a Rush Immunotherapy..... Guest guest
I tried the normal allergy shots and they tried to increase the dose but even after a year I wasn’t at the maintenance dose because of local reactions. Then I missed a dose and realized I could breathe better than I had been able to in long while and realized that the shots were actually making me worse! I talked it over with my allergist and we stopped the shots. While I do still get certain seasonal issues, it wasn’t the constant issues I had while getting the shots. I won’t ever try them again. My allergist thought that maybe part of the issue was that I was getting shots for things I am constantly exposed to anyway and so it was making me worse and not better. K. Guest guest
Well, that's what I was sort of wondering.....if getting it done quickly, in 4 weeks, instead of the year+ long version, because my aspirin desensitization was done incorrectly....I was told to take 40 mg for a MONTH, and after 16 days, I could not take it anymore, the misery and suffering was awful, hence that is how I found this group, in search of ANSWERS! I ended up getting aspirin desensitized and I see improvement. I am still experiencing 'some' nasal polyp flare up but then it opens up again....maybe it is just sputtering all it can before it gives in and DIES!!! LOLI did a little more digging around and some sites for RUSH Immunotherapy suggest pre-meds a few days before you start all of which I already take minus the recommendation of prednisone. I will take the suggestion and take it starting two days prior to the shots....anything to help me through it. I really think since I am on Xolair/Zyflo/Aspirin/Zyrtec that I will be ok.I can't believe where I am today compared to just 6 months ago. I was such a mess and now I am functioning more and more, able to join the living and participate!
