Guest guest
After a couple weeks of eye pain, I went to the doctor and was told I have uveitis, an inflammation of the middle layers of the eye. Since this is the second time I have had it (with no infection present), my doctor wants me to see a rheumatologist because it is often associated with auto-immune issues. Could this be Samter's related? We deal with lots of excess inflammation, but has anyone else had inflammation in their eye? Thanks! Guest guest
Christy – Funny you should bring this up . . . A couple of weeks ago, my eyes began watering excessively, followed by some irritation especially in one eye, and eyelid stickiness when waking up in the morning. These don’t appear to be an infection, so I wondered whether they may be Samter’s related. My ophthalmologist, after explaining to her what Samter’s is, told me that the tear duct actually serves as a drain leading into the nasal passages for excess tears. So . . . could Samter’s-related inflammation, scarring, or polyps be constricting the tear duct, causing my excess tearing and Christy’s Uveitis? Has anyone else experienced similar symptoms? Thanks to all of you too! Guest guest
I had occasional excess tearing - with extremely inflammatory tears when it happened. It disappeared when I started using saline eyedrops to moisten the eye. Now, the tear duct can theoretically be affected by sinusitis, get inflamed, clog, etc but sinusitis-related uveitis does not seem to be the norm.>> Christy - Funny you should bring this up . . .
