The return of smell

Haven't posted in a while, but thought I would share the good news.

One year post desen and I am still feeling good.

Taking 1300mg a day of enteric coated aspirin with no ill effects. Still on

Advair, Zertec D,

and RhinoCort.

Went up to my brother's house in Vermont a couple of weeks ago for a week of

snowboarding and snowmobiling and did a bolus of Prednisone to gird myself

against any

effects from the cold or altitude. Did 40mgx3 with a 10mg taper every 3 days

When I was there, I walked into the snowmobile shop - and I could smell the

sweet odor

of the oil mixed with the exhaust. The sensation wasn't very strong although I

imagine

that it actually was a very, very strong odor (small garage that constantly has

two stroke

engines running in it).

When I got home last week, however, I began to realize that I WAS smelling. So

far, it is

still only fairly strong odors and I am having some difficulty identifying what

it is that I am

smelling - but I now know what my shampoo, conditioner and soap smell like,

could smell

the garlic in the Italian restaurant last night, and have been thinking that I

need to run

over to the mall to get a bog whiff of Cinabon.

Still not smelling " smaller " odors - like I know that the dogs need a bath. But

it is

something.

To tie it into the most recent thread - I am pretty lax about the sinus rinse.

I usually get

around to it every couple of days, more often if I am congested or if I have a

sinus

headache. But I have been pushing to do 2x a day to see if I can't get more

improvement.

BTW, I did NOT have any further surgery AFTER the desen. I was still moving air

after the

major work done by Dr. Kennedy (at U Penn) about 5 years ago - when he " bored

out " the

drainage passages - but feel as if I am moving air even better now than even a

year ago.
