Guest guest
Yes, it is, I made it yesterday, I froze some too. I wanted to add on the Molasses, to use the unsulphured kind. The sulphured kind doesnt taste good. I just looked up this little ditty on Molasses, unsulphured and sulphured: Understanding Molasses http://www.mtnlaurel.com/Recipes/molasse.htm Do you know the difference between types of molasses? We often hear the term " blackstrap molasses, " but what does that mean? The quality of molasses depends on the maturity of the sugar cane, the amount of sugar extracted, and the method of extraction. There are three major types of molasses: unsulphured, sulphured and blackstrap. Unsulphured molasses is the finest quality. It is made from the juice of sun-ripened cane and the juice is clarified and concentrated. Sulphured molasses is made from green sugar cane that has not matured long enough and treated with sulphur fumes during the sugar extracting process. Molasses from the first boiling is the finest grade because only a small amount of sugar has been removed. The second boil molasses takes on a darker color, is less sweet and has a more pronounced flavor. Blackstrap molasses is from the third boil and only has a commercial value in the manufacture of cattle feed and other industrial uses. Read on if you like, there is a comment made about blackstrap molasses on this link: Michele PS blackstrap molasses is high in iron. My mom has been eating it alot and just got tested for anemia and her count is real good since she started cooking with molasses and this is her receipe that I posted here. --- Joyce Hudson <bjoyful@...> wrote: > Michele this sounds delicious! > [ ] Receipe for Pumpkin > Date Nute Bread..YUM! > > > Hi ALL! > > Here's a great receipe for Pumpkin Date Nute Bread > > 4 beaten eggs > 1 cup molasses > 1/2 raw sugar > 1 16oz can of pumpkin > 1 cup of oil > 1/3 water or apple juice > 1/2 tsp vanilla or a bit more to your taste > 3 1/2 cups all purpose (organic) flour > 1 tsp baking soda > 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon > 1 tsp salt or less > 1 8 oz pkg of dates chopped in half > 1 cup walnuts chopped in food processor or blender > > Preheat oven 350 > > Grease bread pans, and lightly flour.
