Calcium cannot be utilized by the body without these minerals. From what I understand about calcium is that magnesium helps utilize calcium, sometimes we just cant absorb it, so it works well with eachother. I suppose that is why Almonds are like a perfect food, it is rich in calcium and magnesium.
