Guest guest
WINTER CHILL CHECKLIST A holiday season spent with friends and family brings cheer to all. But the season's inevitably colder weather can make your pet less cheerful – especially about going outside. So keep her happy amidst the wintry bliss. Here's how: • Washing in a Winter Wonderland – Your pet's paws need special care. Chemicals in sand and salt that prevent slipping can burn her footpads, leading her to lick and ingest harmful chemicals. Wash her paws with warm water after romps outside. Check for frostbite, too. • Cuddle Up – With guests coming and going, the best gift you can give your pet is a warm, quiet place to relax. Keep a warm blanket or pillow out of drafts, but a safe distance from a fireplace or wood-burning stove. Install a protective screen in front of the fireplace to keep a curious pet away from ashes and popping wood. • Home for the Holidays – Prancing around in the snow may be fun for your pet, but snow can cover scents they use to determine where they belong. Keep their ID tags current with your contact information and make sure they don't escape the yard. • Winter Warm Up – While warmer climates don't always see snowflakes in the winter, remember to provide warm, dry shelter for your pet if she spends any time outside, especially on brisk nights. Also, be sure her water dish doesn't freeze overnight or on especially cold days. From Petchat by Hills Science Diet Spiritual freedom is my birthright. I am a free thinker.
