Guest guest
Hi I'm from Kingston, Ontario and I had revision surgery last May with Dr. at Toronto Western. I also had consults with Dr. Dana at Trillium in Mississauga and Dr. Ford at Sunnybrook. I decided on Dr. because he had trained with Dr. Bridwell in St. Louis, Missouri, who I had heard very good things about. If you want to email privately with more questions, my email is juliehodgson04@.... I have been to the Scoliosis Research Society's website and have identified a number of doctors in Canada who treat scoliosis, but if I understand correctly, they don't necessarily do revision surgery -- pls correct me if I'm wrong. So, how do I find out who the revision specialists are in Canada? Are there any Canadians who have had revision surgery in Canada, and what was your experience like? Would you recommend your specialist? Many thanks,

Guest guest
,Glad to hear that you are pain free!!! Do you follow any particular type of exercise regime, vitamin and/or mineral supplementation, etc. to keep your back in good shape because whatever it is you're doing, I think I need to do too. Many thanks,From: Durand <d.durand56@...> Sent: Wed, April 20, 2011 5:05:03 PMSubject: Re: Revision Specialists in Canada glad to hear from fellow Canadians, I am from borough right in the middle of you two. Guest guest
you may not want to hear what i do. I just retired after working 37 years 25 of those in a bookstore one my feet alot. I walked to and from work and home and back for lunch everday wearing high heels. I ride motorcycles,do whatever i want. we bought a house in Florida and now spend 6 months there and 6 here. I just hired a personal trainer down in Florida and I do all kinds of floor exercises and waste bends. I have two full length steel rods, I had a bone removed from my backside and put onto my shoulder bone so they matched and i had a rib taken out of my lung which was caused by the curve. I have had two successful pregnancies and now have four grandchildren. I now work full time with my husband inhis business. Dr Hall told me many years ago you have scoliolsis it does not have you--and I live by that everyday. I do not do anything special but I do know my limits From: L M <mariconda_l@...> Sent: Thu, April 21, 2011 7:15:41 PMSubject: Re: Revision Specialists in Canada ,Glad to hear that you are pain free!!! Guest guest
WOW thats amazing - you are one of the lucky ones! I am a social worker and pt bartender- so i spent close to 6 years working working 80 hours a week- all day with the school bd-then off to the bar-where i stood for a good 10 hours- also lugging cases of beer/wine etc at the end of my shift...then home for a few hours of sleep-to start it all over again! Now i am in my late 40s-and having some MAJOR ISSUES.....I collect disablity and work part time for a chiropractor-funny since working there I have met a few others with harrington rods- all of us- with huge spinal issues. My ortho's have summed up my problem ( in laymans terms) as plain wear and tear.....the hardware is old, the fusion is old and Flatback has set in- I have also lived an extremely active life (oh in my 20s i was a professional cheerleader-lots of people standing on my shoulders/back etc). So what can i do??? I love hearing stories of people who have such success and live with no pain- i think its wonderful- I just wish I ( and the people on these boards) also had the same success... It is what it is...and we all cope the best way we can....I know i am much more fortunate than others....but who knows what will happend down the road? - keep doing what your doing as its working for you! All the best and keep in touch! You'll be my new inspirtaion to keep fight through this!
