Guest guest
Hi, -- You wrote that your hip pain is at the incision site. I assume this is where the surgeon removed some cancellous bone from your anterior iliac crest to use as graft tissue for your spinal fusion? I have heard from a number of other people who had this same problem. It may be one of those unanticipated or delayed reactions that surgeons did not acknowledge or take seriously, at least in the beginning. But it happens often enough that I'd like to think some specialists do acknowledge it now and may even have some help to offer. (That's just my best, wild guess.) I wish I could offer you more information. Have you considered seeing one of the best spinal surgeons in your area and possibly updating your x-rays? I'm so sorry you are having this pain. It seems as life is one surprise after another for those of us with histories of scoliosis surgery! Best,
Guest guest
Hi , Yes, that is where they removed bone. I finally went to see my primary. She thinks I probably need physical therapy but, based on the complexity of my spinal issues, she wants me to see a physiatrist. His name is Dr. Binder and he works out of Spaulding Rehab in Boston. He is board certified in rehabilitative medicine and pain management. I'm curious to see what he has to say. Thanks for your input. I'll post again after I see him.
