Guest guest
Dane, The gadget is called a TENS unit and it is used for pain in any part of the body that those electrode pads can be attached. If you still have the pain when you get to day 100 (and I hope you do not!) ask to get a portable one to take with you. My husband has one for back pain. husband Georg, dx 7/04 hematologic remission Gleevec 400 mg working on PCRU At 02:36 PM 03/17/2005, dane714@... intelligently penned > > >Just an FYI for any chemo patients that have this side effect in the >future. I think he is getting high voltage galvanic stimulation, which depending on how you set the machine, can be to decrease swelling and reduce pain....or set for electrical muscle stimulation, to keep the muscles that are presently not well innervated (from the neuropathy) from atrophying. I could not tell from the photo, so Dane will have to clarify this.........but this is what I would guess. PTs have lots of fun gadgets to play with. I enjoyed mostly the one on one teaching of exercises, posture, relaxation techniques, etc. Lots of variety in your work day. Guest guest
Thanks! I could not recall the name of the machine last night. They did say they have loaners available. I hope not to need one! > Dane, > > The gadget is called a TENS unit and it is used for pain in any part of the > body that those electrode pads can be attached. > If you still have the pain when you get to day 100 (and I hope you do not!) > ask to get a portable one to take with you. Guest guest
The machine has specific settings for Pain and for Numbness...if that helps with the ID of the machine. I'll get the exact make and model next visit to PT. Today is biopsy day, so I doubt I will make it down there. > > >Dane, > > > >The gadget is called a TENS unit and it is used for pain in any part of the > >body that those electrode pads can be attached. > >If you still have the pain when you get to day 100 (and I hope you do not!) > >ask to get a portable one to take with you.
