Dear Kasia,I would work with the oral, facial and hand reflexes to help with the drooling. I've learned that excessive drooling can be related to un-integratated reflexes. Also, Mohinder, could you let us know what is the homeopathic remedy you used for this?Best, Story StoryOptimizing Skills and Transforming Challenges Through Brain-Based Movement and PlayReflex Integration•Licensed Brain Gym® Instructor•Rhythmic Movement Training•Balametrics soniastory@...Phone:  360-638-0848

Shari.

In addition to the MNRI techniques, the Orofacial regulation therapy (ORT)

of Dr. Castillo Morales would be very helpful. These techniques help to

reeducate the tongue and balance the muscle tone in the tongue as well as

address imbalances in mouth pressure. Maybe there is an orthodonist or

speech therapist in your area who could teach those specific techniques to

you. Regner was in the States recently and ran two workshops: in CA

and MN. She will, hopefully return next year.

Hi Shari ~Drooling can involve many components but it generally requires strengthening of the muscle tone and of the core.  It doesn't tend to a miracle response but over time it lessens.

You've probably been working with his Babkin Palmomental reflex already and I would continue with that as well as his swallow and suck reflexes and the facial protocol.  I would agree with Joan Agosta that adding vibration to the swallow reflex where you stroke the jawbone upward toward the TMJ would be a good thing.

Because drooling involves body liquids, you want to bear in mind his inner ear and lymph systems, the alignment of his jaw and the relationship of his jawbone to the inner ear.  Often we see hypoactive responses in droolers and activities that help to move the lymph along, such as joint compressions and rhythmic reflexes such as the opening and closing of the hands, can also help to regulate the fluids in the jaw.

If you don't know how to do the core strengthening with the body rectangle from the Core Tendon Guard procedure, then I would suggest strengthening his core with e reflex and Moro reflex.  Then I would add the Palmomental and Grasp reflexes , done very rhythmically with the 7 second timing.  In addition, I would keep up with  the facial reflexes, with particular emphasis on the Swallow and the Suck.  Personally,  I would add the Trigeminal Tapping along the face and the Crazy Straw from the HANDLE program if anyone has shown you these activities.

It is important to strengthen his vestibular system in order to increase his muscle tone as the vestibular system is directly related to the muscle tone of his body through its links to the brainstem and cerebellum.  So lots of movement in different planes such as up and down on a mini-trampoline, rolling around, etc.

Good luck with it.Suzanne Amanor-WilksNeurodevelopmental Learning Coach and MNRI Specialist in TrainingOn Wed, May 12, 2010 at 10:09 PM, playparent <playparent@...> wrote:
