Guest guest
Welcome! I'm kind of a newbie here too. My son just had his consult at CT in Charlotte yesterday. They took his picture from all angles (front, back, both sides, lying down looking at the top of the head, and lying down looking up his nose-that's the only way I can describe it). Then they used a caliper and took measurements of his head, then we waited briefly in a room while they printed out the photos and had the therapist review everything. Then she came in to talk to me, got some of Jake's history (he had tort at birth and went to PT for it). Then we just talked about whether treatment would be beneficial, especially at his age (almost 17m). She seemed confident that it would, so our casting is scheduled for Monday. She also showed me the actual DocBand, before and after pictures of treated DocBand babies, and photos of the casting process. It was all free of charge. And just to chime in on what said, I would see a PT as soon as you can, to get started on that tort. And also, just call your insurance and ask them what your coverage is for " durable medical equipment, " or just explain it's an orthotic device for your baby's head (as opposed to foot orthotics, which is a whole other kettle of fish). I have BCBS of NC but it's the federal employee program, so it's a little different from the standard BCBS. You'll just have to find out if CT is in network or out of network for you (it's out of network for me, so we have to pay up front and then submit the claim myself for reimbursement). Good luck with the whole process! in Raleigh Mom to Jordan-4 and Jake 16m > > Hello everyone, > My name is Kat and I have 2 kids, Hannah who is 6 and Elijah who just > turned 5 months old on Monday. > > Elijah's head and neck became a concern during his last pedi visit at > 4 months. Guest guest
, thank you for that!! Did you see a specialist first? I always assumed that we have to get the order from the neurosurgeon. His tort is actually almost 95% improved. His range of motion seems to be better. I did find my durable equiptment clause and it is $1500 max per year. So that sounds like it is half. The good news is that I also enrolled in my flexible spending account but only signed up for $1000. At least that is money I can recoup. Again thank you for all the info!! I am looking forward to getting answers. Katrin Re: Another introduction Welcome! I'm kind of a newbie here too. My son just had his consult at CT in Charlotte yesterday. Guest guest
Hey Kat! Nice to see you here! Sorry this is late, but I hope your eval went well today. We had BCBS of MA w/Hannah and they did cover her bands after a fight. Looking forward to hearing your update later. , mom to DOCgrads Hannah (age 5) and Jack (age 1) Cape Cod, Ma http://hannahsnoggin.typepad.com > > Hello everyone, > My name is Kat and I have 2 kids, Hannah who is 6 and Elijah who just > turned 5 months old on Monday. > > Elijah's head and neck became a concern during his last pedi visit at > 4 months.
