I think the note below was meant for the group. Thanks to Lana for the

interesting angle on Dr. Rand. It would be helpful to know who is doing

revision surgery in Vermont -- especially on people with

cardiopulmonary conditions or other issues which some doctors regard as

contraindications. Maybe the Vermont surgeon would be a good second-

opinion specialist for some of our members with signficant medical

conditions other than scoliosis and flatback syndrome per se.

I saw Dr. Rand in 2002. He said he wouldn't touch my back 'with

a ten foot pole' because of my lung problems. I assured him I would be

ok, that I was strong, but the answer was no.

I had the surgery in July 2002 and am glad I did, with another MD in VT.
