Guest guest
Hi Everyone, While searching for a job, I have had many questions about how or even if to approach the subject of CML. In reality, I have trusted my intuition and particular situations to make that decision -- what to tell and how much. In truth, a disabilities lawyer here in DC met with a group of patients with all types of cancers and basically said, " Don't ever tell a potential employer or one you already have unless you absolutely require some work accommodations. " Anyway, if you have questions as I did, perhaps this website will help. L & LS sent it to me. You are not required to tell them anything about CML, btw. You probably already know that. Since my health is good and I only require a doc appt. every 2 weeks, there's no reason to bring it up. This is a general site about cancer and employment http://www.cancerandcareers.org Best, L
Guest guest
Hey n, You bring up a very good point, and I certainly understand wanting to keep a low profile about your CML. However, one day out of sheer boredom I happened to google my own name and Voila! Showing up under CML group was a posting of mine talking about the various side effects of Gleevec for patients with CML. Maybe you and others might want to give it a try. I don't know how to get rid of it though. Hope this hasn't caused any problems. Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, Yes, I've written articles about the HSP-70 Clinical trial that show up. Not being employed and looking to get back into the marketplace is tricky enough at my age and adding in CML is way too much for many potential employers. That's the one reason that the HIV/AIDS clinic was good because they're accustomed to dire sounding illnesses that they know can be managed through medication. Say, I know it sounds like a silly question, but, really, what is the address of our website? I get my messages in my mailbox and don't go to the website. But, you said there's a new picture posted there. I'd like to see it and put in my address book which, for some reason, I didn't do at the beginning. Thanks!
