Guest guest
We are actually doing it, some of it simultaneously, I cannot say if it is more effective, we just do it because we are doing a full neurological program and it is more manageable that way, our son did very good progress in 6 months, but it might also had to do with the intensity of the reflex integration program...JanetFrom: Amy Butcher <amybutcher@...>To: Sent: Wed, June 15, 2011 8:28:18 PMSubject: MNRI and ILS After reading many of your posts, I checked into ILS. I've spoken to a therapist who uses it and Interactive Metronome (IM). She has suggested doing ILS at the same time we do some of the Masgutova exercises. I mean, simultaneously. Has anyone tried that? Or has anyone done IM along with MNRI? Do you have any opinions about either one? -- Amy
Guest guest
We have done MNRI for past 2 yrs with excellent results. This is first time i have heard of iLS. MNRI families, have you guys tried this with your kids? What type of results are you seeing? Can parents buy the equipment/program and do it at home or do we need a Practioner? thanks for feedback ! Guest guest
I am an audiologist using iLs with MNRI for some children. We get great results but it is best to work with a trained professional. Too many high frequencies can push some children with autism over the edge. On the other hand, children with dyslexia and certain types of auditory processing problems really need the high frequency emphasis. There is a home version of iLs that parents can use but it should be monitored appropriately. Hope this helps. Leah Light, Au.D. MNRI and ILS After reading many of your posts, I checked into ILS. Guest guest
I heard first time about iLS on this forum and was also discouraged to buy it because there is no practionner near Beijing, China. So, instead , we decided to buy The Listening Program which can be easily done at home, with apparently great results too. We are waiting for our programme to arrive and to start this summer with it. I will let you know how it goes. In October we will go to Poland to attend a family conference with Svetlana. Our hopes are big that MNRI can help with the attention issues as well as coordination for our 7 year old son. Guest guest
That is what we are doing the home based program, with the consultation of an ILS specialist, Our son has Down syndrome, he has benefited tremendously from the high frequencies. We do a lot of creeping, balancing board, walking, oging up the stairs and some of the MNRI reflex integration while he has the headset, some of the exercises in the book he cannot do yet, I think it is for older kids. But I highly recommend it!...One more thing, there may be some practitioners that could do consultation over skype, I know the one we see does that in Puerto Rico because she is the only Spanish speaking ILS certified in our area...Good luck!JanetFrom: "childrenshearing@..." <childrenshearing@...> Sent: Thu, June 16, 2011 7:46:53 PMSubject: Re: MNRI and ILS I am an audiologist using iLs with MNRI for some children. Guest guest
I have been using Interactive Metronome in our office since 2001 and teaching Retained Neonatal Reflexes since 2006. While each goes to, through, and affects slightly different areas neurologically, I can't imagine not doing both when IM is indicated. Balancing the autonomics through RNR combined with balancing the cortex and sensory integration via IM provides our patients with a far more than additive benefit. Dr. P.
