Yay! That's really great news :) I'm happy to herr that she is home,

and I hope that she is able to keep her recovery moving in a positive

direction more comfortably now in her own environment.

I'm anxiously awaiting an update from her when she feels up to it, and

I'm sure that many of the other people here on the list would love to

hear some news too. We have all been so worried about her these past

few months.

Hi Everyone,

Yup, I'm home, but my spunkiness is as limited as my computer time.

Thank you for all your kind wishes and prayers and thanks for

the card you sent. It's rough being in a wheelchair, but I guess I'm

getting used to it. My PT and OT have had me up standing with a

walker a bunch of times. Mostly I'm using my arms to prop me up

there, though. I'm glad my left leg has some movement now. Haven't

had time to read many of the posts here, but wish everyone well.

Eliz, once, I figure out how to send you a Paypal contribution, I'll

get it off to you.

Take care, everyone,

loriann

Hi Loriann,

It's so great to hear from you. I'm sure you're relieved to be home.

You are so brave and an inspiration to all of us. I hate that you are

going through this and really, really hope that you get movement and

strength back - and/or that adjusting to life in a wheelchair is quick.

Who can blame you for being less feisty than usual???? You've been

through such an ordeal. And it sounds like you have a long road of

physical therapy ahead of you.

I hope you're not in pain - I hope you're comfortable and comforted by

your family and being home.

You're in my thoughts.

Best Wishes,

Andy

Dear Loriann,

Hallelujah, your first post-op post to the Feisty Forum!

I take it your family was able to make the old homestead at least

somewhat wheelchair-friendly. They must be so overjoyed to have you

home.

That's great news, that you have more movement on the left now. I

keep hearing about new miracles of PT, people resuming ambulation

after serious paraplegia. I know we're all pulling for you here.

When you do have more computer-endurance, I feel sure you will have

quite a saga to tell us. One thing that came up in this forum during

your absence was the importance of rehab for all of us after spinal

surgery -- and you, my dear, have had rehab coming out the ears. I

can only hope your therapists have been less trying than a few of

mine were --it was all I could do to keep from firing one or two of

my darling OTs and PTs on the spot.

Are your family members doing more to take care of themselves these

days (unlike mine, of course!)? I hope so. I don't know about you,

but if personally stricken, I myself would rather not be one of

those paragon Mrs.-America-in-a-chair ladies who navigate their

entire kitchens with ease (according to the occasional Sunday

supplement feature article) after being struck blind on the road to

Damascus, born again, then diagnosed with terminal cancer -- having

already, years, earlier, lost the use of all four appendages in a

tragic post-partying accident while driving around with their

sorority sisters and a six-pack back in those less insightful and

majorly more carefree days before the tragedy of rotten luck brought

them to their senses. True, it's admirable how some of these poster-

people for life in a wheel chair can whip up a gourmet meal in no

time, but I say let their kids show their gratitude by clearing the

table, doing the dishes, then sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor-

- while Mom takes a little after-dinner nip with Dad in the living

room or relaxes with her live-in massage professional. Just my 2

cents, of course -- I realize you may feel differently.

Anyway, Lori, I hereby appoint you Feisty Hero of the Year. Bravo!

WELL done! Welcome back.

Hoping you have seen the last of OR's and hospitals forevermore,

Hi ,

I loved your post, and will try to answer when I have time.

Meanwhile, if anyone knows where I can get me one of them live-in

massage professionals, PLEASE email me on the double.....

I also hope to find time to go back in the posts to see if you wrote

about your most recent surgery. Hope that you are okay!
