Guest guest
Hi Sharon, Welcome to the list. I am originally from Oxford, Alabama (near Anniston) and am a military wife and currently live in Hawaii. We have had some real education horror stories from our travels. I am so glad to hear that schools in Alabama are providing programs like has. has a similar pull-out program. I would love to have full inclusion but until someone does it properly in a place where we live, I'll settle for the pull-out. Keep us up to date on your family. BTW, do they have sweet barbecue down your way. I am a tad homesick:)) Elaine Mom to 16 and 14 (DS) Introduction > Hi- > I am new to this list and would like to introduce us. I was very blessed when was born, my mother approached me and said she and my dad wanted to take care of when I returned to work. It was such a relief to have a family member taking care of her. She had her 2 months vxs and none since, * and at this stage I don't plan on her getting any more vxs in * future. I am looking forward to learning more from other parents who * have also decided not to vaccinate as I find that the more * information, contact and support I have about this decision the * better I feel about it - and considering that this is a decision that * will come with a battle at every turn, it's important to be as well- * informed and confident as possible about the decision. Welcome! Our daughters are the same age. Ani turned 7 month today. She had her 2 and 4 month vaccinations (minus Hep , but then we stopped. I am the same way you are - support makes me confirm over and over that this is the right decision (not to vax). We paused Ani's because they caused her to get terrible allergies (thankfully doing much better still exclusively nursing and useing homeopathic medicine). Then the more we researched the less I wanted to inject my baby and now have decide to simply stop. We just wish we had known such a strong family history of allergies as we have is a contraindication to getting immunized (our doctor didn't tell us and after we stopped vaccinating I was talking to a friend who picks and chooses vaccines and she said her children's ped does not recommend vaxing a child with a family history of allergies due to increased risk of adverse effects - wish our ped had told us that). This is a great group. So many *very* knowledgeable people. I've learned so much from them! ~ and since 6/5/98 and Ani since 2/15/00 http://www.hejduk.net HJ Gifts http://www.hjgifts.com

Guest guest
Hi Perhaps sites of pharmaceutical companies with informaiton on the benefits and risks of vaccines is a good place to look. Also the Vaers database. Sorry I don't have the links on hand. introduction >Hi all >I'm new here and just wanted to say hello. Guest guest
The pharmaceutical companies do list the risks, side effects, etc. on their inserts. Vaers is Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System. Here is a link I just found: http://www.fedbuzz.com/vaccine/vac.html Re: introduction >i'm suspicious of the pharmaceutical companies -- got to figure that they're >downplaying the possiblity of side effects, what is vaers? >thanks >Chris > > > > > ____________NetZero Free Internet Access and Email_________ Download Now http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html Request a CDROM 1-800-333-3633 ___________________________________________________________
Guest guest
hi chris, welcome to the list--glad you are here. i do understand how you feel about making these very difficult decisions. i have 2 kids, ages 6 yrs and 11 months. my oldest, elliott is fully vaxed up to 5 yrs. old, my baby was given his shots at 2 months and then i couldn't continue. i had always had reservations about vaccines--without really having any specific reason to dislike them--i was completely unaware of the " down " side of vaccines, until recently. it took me awhile (like i said, i wasn't comfortable with them with my older son, yet i still took sawyer in and had him inocculated, because i was afraid to not have him up to date. we are so programmed to be sooo afraid, if we don't do what the current medical authorities say so. remember that it took how many years for them to admit that smoking is bad for your health!! as i began my research, i continually grew more and more convinced that vaccines were no good. i stopped continuing the series with sawyer, figuring i could always go back at a later time--but i guess i knew that time would never come and now 9 months later--i am positive i will never give my kids any vaccines in the future. you have a very hard decision to make--no doubt about that. either way you go, there's always a possibilty of illness to your child. you just need to decide which carries the greatest risk and the worst after effects. for me, keeping my kids as toxin-free as possible, natural immune systems intact, healthy eating and just knowing their chances of contracting one of these illnesses is remote--i'll take my chances with what comes my way naturally... good luck in your decision, ask any and all questions you may have--there are lots of knowledgeable helpful people on this list. if you need references to any specific vaccines or illnesses, post a question here. take care, brigit

Guest guest
To prevent it sounds to me like we're trying to develop a > generation of bubble-children. Welcome ! Interesting you should say that about the " bubble- children. " I just made that same argument to a friend the other day. People tell me I shouldn't shelter my kids - but that's what so many are doing when they don't allow their children's immune systems to properly develop by getting some of these formerly common childhood illnesses. Remember the movie " The Boy in the Bubble? " That may even be what you were referring to, but that is the image that came to mind during this conversation with a friend. Best of luck to you! Guest guest
Hi Amy...you are doing the right thing. Changing the beliefs you had is a very scary thing, especially when most of the doctors out there will look at you like you are crazy or a bad mom when you say you are not vaccinating. Fearing these diseases in natural, and shows that you do care and you are a GOOD mom...there are naturopathic and holistic and homeopathic doctors who can help your child if she ever did contract one or more of these illnesses. Her immune system will be stronger from going through these illnesses; vaccines will make her system weaker so she will not be able to fight off ANY illness like she would if her system was not compromised. There are also many books out there that will help explain these illnesses to you, and what to do in case she would ever get sick with one. One that is very good is Mendelshons (spelling) How to keep your child healthy...In spite of your doctor. Anyway, best wishes for your beautiful baby and your family...
