I know I've announced this before, but I want to remind everyone once again that you do not have to go looking all over the Web for Mina's articles! Some of what she said back then has been modified by medical experience in the intervening years. For instance, to the best of my knowledge there are not two distinct kinds of flatback, as she posited back then. But a great deal of what she wrote is still worthwhile and informative for us to read and re-read today. Many of us owe her a very great debt. She steered us away from charlatans and surgical "experimenters" eager for guinea pigs, persuading us to do whatever it took to get ourselves to one of the very few qualified revision surgeons available at the time. And she did all this during an era when the very topic of flatback syndrome was still almost totally hush-hush, both in Web scoliosis forums and in public presentations by spinal surgeons.
