I am a Special Education Teacher Associate level one. I took my training in Kelowna, BC this summer. This year I have been incorporating the Masgutova work at my school. This morning I had a Grandmother come to me excited to share news that her Grandson with Autism and Developmental Delays had been reevaluated by outside sources in Speech Therapy. This was a 6 month reevaluation for him. He made 5 months of gains! (That is how long I have been working with him! Our school Physical Therapist walked into my room and saw an immediate difference in his posture and behavior. He has been in intervention for several years. Pre-K Special Education. He is now beginning to say words in relation to foods that he wants or doesn’t want - “NO” instead of a scream, clothes, action verbs and bodily functions. > Thank you Suzanne Amanor-Wilkes & Pamala Curlee my “Wild Filly” (epilepsy) Has found a blissful state. For those of you reading my “Wild Filly” was like the ”Energizer Bunny on steroids” She had to be contained in a wheel chair for her safety and the safety of others, attention span of 10 seconds or less. She now sits in my lap, has favorite books to look at, is saying words other childrens names, Plays with toys for up to 10 minutes, little or no aggression. > Thank you Svetlana for your brilliant light in the world of children with challenges.> Best Regards to everyone, we are in for a wonderful New Year!> Steve> Best Ed.S Sp. Guest guest
Hi ...your testimony is very exciting. Thanks for sharing. I have not yet introduced myself to the group so I'll do so briefly here and then get on to my question for you. My name is Vicky and I am a speech-language pathologist and Certified RDI consultant in Louisiana. I recently attended the Dyn and Post Reflex course and am slowly easing into trying some of this work out on a few clients. I'm interested in how far along you are in the process and how you went about getting started. I recently did an assessment (Im sure a very poor attempt) with one of my clients. I feel like he would benefit from some work on his foot related reflexes but of course I'm not 100% as I feel like I really guessed my way through the assessment. Of course this is not due to poor teaching on the part of my course instructor....she did anexcellent job and I feel good about what I SHOULD be doing....just need ALOT of practice before I will feel comfortable that I am executing and analyzing appropriately! Would you mind sharing a little of your story as far as how you went about jumping into this work. If you have already done this somewhere, please do not feel obligated to repeat it...I'll just search the archived posts. Also, if you would prefer to email me directly that would also be great (vposton22@...). I'm excited about this work...just EXTREMELY nervous and apprehensive about getting started. At this point, my plan is to simply do it...pick a reflex or two to work on with this particular family and just see what happens. Not necessarily the most systematic approach but it's where I'm at right now. Thanks again for sharing your work. My caseload consists 100% of children with some version of an autism diagnosis and I strongly believe that this work will make a powerful impact on their development and progress....if I can just figure out how to do it correctly:-) Happy New Year to everyone!
