Guest guest
I wish there were more of you out there in the school systems! My son is 9 and I am angry that our state developmental agency didn't check reflexes during his OT evals at both 18 mos and 3 yrs and neither did our private OT at 20 months. We could have made progress so much faster instead of finding out about them 7 years later! I think every child should be checked for reflexes when referred to early intervention and every child should be checked before entering kindergarten! Seems like all foundations should be in place to the best of their abilities before education starts. I am encouraged that you said reflexes need to be in place before starting eye exercises - I opted not to do Vision Therapy because I thought neuro reorganization (we just started) might give my son a better foundation. You have quite an extensive repertoire of therapies that you have been trained on - do you have any favorites for integrating reflexes for eye development over others? Thank you so much for getting the word out - I am sure you have blessed many families! Blessings, I absolutely love the reflex work and after my years of practice,I have realized the reflex work is truly the foundation to build from. I can have children work on eye exercises prescribed by the DO, but if there are still retained reflexes, those need to be worked on first. Build the foundation and the rest should fall into place. I have seen amazing results in short amounts of time with all kinds of kids with varying diagnoses. I wish more parents would take on the role and complete the exercises at home but often that is not the case. I do what I can within the school environment teaching whomever is willing to help me out with these needy kids but there needs to be so much more. I don't know of anyone else in Vermont doing this type of work but I would love to find them if they are out there! I will continue to educate whoever is willing to listen and hope for more research so that the buy-in factor is there on a larger scale. I look forward to hearing from parents, therapists and kids about your amazing stories!
