Guest guest
Thanks , I will definitely consider it. Burke Mountain sounds so nice. I think they would probably put me the " Rusk " unit at NYU? I dunno. We haven't really discussed it yet.? I will find out soon. Thanks again . Guest guest
Carol, My surgeon said that in his clinic, he finds that about half of his revision patients go to rehab and about half go directly home after surgery. It depends on their fitness going into the surgery, if there were any complications, etc. So even if there's no rehab " planned " for you, things could change once the surgery is done. For me, rehab was a bit different, because I was already using a wheelchair part of the time before surgery due to another medical condition. So I'll let other people answer you on the question of what type of things they do there. I was in rehab for 4 weeks, after being in the hospital for 2 weeks. I think that many people are in there for less than that, assuming no complications have occurred. These are definately good questions to ask your surgeon and/or his nurse if you haven't already > OOps, > Burke MT is in Vermont. I guess I have vacationing on my mind. Guest guest
I did not go to rehab after revision surgery. I am 11 months out and could not be happier with my outcome > > OOps, > > Burke MT is in Vermont. I guess I have vacationing on my mind. Guest guest
Carol, I didn't go to rehab either. I was in the hospital for 5 days. However, I left too soon as I had to go back! I started having intense pain at home, it freaked me out and I went back (I was there another two nights -- the issue was pain control). Make sure you're ready to go when they start pressing you to leave. I had a home health aide when I went home, which was very helpful. I'm single without family in the area. You might want to consider this for a couple of weeks after you get home -- it's pretty difficult to do much for yourself (i.e., meals, etc.). But after a couple of weeks, you should be somewhat more functional. A home health aide isn't covered by insurance, however. I'm sure people have different experiences, but this was mine. Again, best wishes to you! > > > OOps, > > > Burke MT is in Vermont.
