We consider ourselves lucky beyond words to have found Diane. We sought out a Physical Therapist for our Elle when she was five years old, as we had noticed a delay in her coordination and balance. The first PT we found (at another institution) dismissed our concerns. Through a referral from an adult PT of our acquaintance we found Diane. She immediately, in a gentle way, confirmed our suspicions that Elle indeed had some real challenges. This was actually a relief and we started to work with Diane immediately. Through Diane's supportive guidance we have discovered that Elle in fact has Sensory Processing Disorder and Cerebral Palsy (diagnoses missed by our pediatrician and the initial PT we saw). Diane has been professional and tactful throughout our work with her. She never overstepped her professional bounds by diagnosing Elle when that was not her role, but she did manage to steer us to the right experts for diagnoses (e.g., She suggested a neurology consult, and an orthopedic consult, both of which were quite useful). We have found Diane's treatment approach to be amazingly comprehensive. More than most of the other health care providers we have worked with she sees Elle as a whole. She looks at all of her functioning and continually works to integrate all of the issues that Elle faces. She then selects therapy techniques that address Elle's challenges, and adjusts them in a weekly basis. Although everything she has done in therapy and given for homework has been effective, we have been particularly impressed with the techniques that Diane learned from Dr. Masgutova. We have seen a remarkable change in our daughter's functioning and I'm quite sure the changes are in large part due to the skillful implementation of Dr. Masgutova's Tactile Therapy by Diane. Elle's coordination and balance have developed beyond what we had hoped, and as a side benefit, her emotional reactivity has also deceased quite markedly. Early in the process I noticed the casual relationship between Diane's work with Elle and her functioning- when we missed appointments or I failed to practice the exercises at home, Elle's abilities would slide backwards. When we renewed our efforts and consistently worked with Diane, Elle's progress continued upward trajectory.Although Diane has incredible expertise in seemingly every area I believe it is her interpersonal style that is the most impressive thing about her. She is incredibly warm, supportive and positive. Elle is often initially shy with new people but Diane immediately put her at ease with her gentle style. It is often a challenge for parents to implement the exercises at home that would help their children progress, however Diane has been consistently supportive in her praise of my efforts, even when I have felt my efforts to be less than ideal. She keeps both parents and children motivated and happy to come back to see her. As a psychologist I understand how difficult this can be and am so grateful to work with someone as encouraging and supportive as Diane. In summary, we have been so impressed with Diane, so grateful for her, and so thrilled to have found her that we wanted the people she works with to know. Call it immense customer satisfaction. Sincerely, Lynn Rankin-Esquer & Dave Esquer
