Guest guest
Hi and Tricia, I’m about to have C7-T1 fused, am already fused fom C1-C7, and my numbness is in the last two and sometimes last three fingers. I’m afraid it does sound like you may have a problem above your line of fusions . I’m so sorry as I know how frustrating it is to finally get things set and then the discs above or below go. I also am due to have revision surgery, which will have me fused from T12 to the sacrum. I’m now fused from L2-S1. Tricia, you have been living with much of your spine fused. Would you mind sharing what life is like for you and also who has done all your fusions? The surgeons talk as if the worst thing in the world is to have most or all your spine fused but being in pain all the time and unable to work or go much of anywhere is pretty awful. I’d really appreciate hearing what life is like for you. If you would be more comfortable phoning or writing to me directly I’m katecarr@... and can be reached at 919-929-3402. I cannot thank you enough for being willing to take the time to share. Best, Kate ed From: tgordon71906 Sent: Sunday, February 06, 2011 2:09 PM Subject: Re: Arm pain freaking me out.... Hi ,Sorry to hear about your arm pain. About 5 yrs ago i had similar pain except my numbness was in thumb and next finger so it was C5C6. I wound up with having a severe herniation pressing my spinal cord. At this time i was already fused from t2 to L1. Now two weeks ago i had to have a fusion from L1 to S1 due to flatback and a few severe herniations. I was so nervous to have so much of my spine fused and i understand your fear of more surgery especially the neck. The good news for me is that i am already feeling so much better and i am learning how to move the correct way. My surgeon wants to start PT in two months and he also said getting a goood pilates instructor would help tremendously for core strength. I of course hope your pain is from something much easier but if not I wanted to let you know with the right team and attitude you can handle anything! Best of luck!Tricia>> Hello Everyone...I haven't posted in ages, which I guess is a good sign because I tend to come here for advice and support when I'm struggling with something. > > I am 3 years post revision, working and living a fairly normal life (just at a slower pace due to a bit of a limp, lol). I have recently developed R arm pain...shoulder tip to the fingers which runs down the middle of my arm and leaves numbness and tingling in the last two fingers. That would indicate an issue at C8 and I'm already full of hardware from T1 thru the sacrum and am just not ready to start working the inner scaffolding look in the other direction!> > Anyone else having the same kind of symptoms? Maybe its just carpal tunnel? Maybe I need a new chair at work? > > (and Matt too)>
