Well, we officially have an appointment with the psychiatrist but it isn't

until MAY!!

That's ok because it will give me more time to read (if the books ever get

here) and observe my son. Should I write down the things I observe in

some sort of journal? I set out to do this last week, and the day I had

everything ready....he didn't say anything silly!!

Someone else mentioned that their OCD tells them what to do. My son use to

tell me that " his brain has a mind all of its own. " Like a seperate entity.

(that scared me!) He denies that something bad will happen if he doesn't

" do " his things, and he says he only does them because they are fun. But he

has now dragged his mattress into the living room to sleep at night so that

" I will be able to see him and know that he is OK, and he will be able to

see me and know that I am OK. " Hmmm...

Hi Ginger, you asked about keeping an OCD journal. I found this very

helpful for doctor's visits, especially getting started since Kel's doctor

had me fill out many diagnostic and symptom-checklist forms toward arriving

at a diagnosis. My memory just wasn't up to this job! I just have a

little day-planner where I jot down symptoms I notice and anything else

pertinent such as med side-effects, some days I write next to nothing and

unfortunately, other times I feel I'm writing a book! By the way, your son

placing his mattress where you can see him and he can see you is (IMHO)

almost certainly OCD, there's something you can write in your journal :-)

He is anxious about your well-being. My daughter has had many rituals

designed to keep me safe and/or alive, her OCD " threatens " her with my death

if she doesn't do this or that compulsion.
