Guest guest
On pedaling a bike. .... Does he pedal a trike? My oldest son didn't pedal for the longest time....just pushed his feet on the ground. Maybe if you don't push him..... just help him steer and if he wants to go he WILL pedal that might help. Are his feet firmly reaching the pedals? Mav was so inspired to ride because he saw the older kids doing it and he wanted to do what they did. For the potty, if you really want him to stand, try throwing cheerios in the toilet and having him do target practice. That might make it more interesting. I do that every once in a while with ALL my boys....just to remind them that you need to get it IN the toilet! LOL....are you SURE you want him to stand....it gets messy!! Oh.....also, I started right off the bat.....after too many messy boys, teaching Mav that after he was finished he takes a peice of toilet paper and runs it around the rim to get any drips. Helps me out alot.

My fellow fit on his trike until he was almost 9, not exactly age appropriate but less expensive than getting a bike shop to make the pedals so they turn when the bike is pushed. Then we moved on to a bike with just a hand brake so that when he pedaled backward the bike didn't stop on him. Karyn
Guest guest
, As usual our guys seem to be on the same track. won't pedal either. I will be interested in the answers to this as well. As for the potty thing, I am having the opposite problem. stands to pee but when he is sitting (for other reasons he shoots it everywhere. He tries to push it down but it is soooo tiny that he seems to be just covering it which makes it shoot through his fingers I have the cleanest bathroom floor around cause I am always mopping it. As for getting to stand, have to tried teaming him up with dad? It really doesn't matter that its tiny, all they do is lean a bit and it hits where its supposed to. Sometimes when they are able to see someone else, they get the idea. I have also heard of the target theory that people have (putting cheerios or something for them to aim at) but I was always afraid to give him license to put things in the toilet. You never know what else they will drop in :-) Good luck! Dawn (Mom to 7ds) Bikes and potty question Hi guys, Two questions! First, how do you teach a child to peddle a bike? has a very small 2 wheeler with training wheels and he won't peddle. It is really hard for me to push his feet on the peddles AND steer the bike. And when I just push him, he won't peddle. Any ideas? Second question. still sits to tinkle. We have kept this up because he is so short and his penis is so tiny, standing didn't seem an option. Now I try to get him to stand and he is sooo not interested. Do any of your guys still sit to go?? Thanks in advance for any help out there. R.
