Margarine is no better and butter contains good cholesterol ... the sort that helps rebuild cells instead of clogging your arteries. We also do not use vegetable shortening any more. We use lard. Lard is no worse than any other solid shortening and our pie crusts and biscuits are much lighter when made with lard instead of vegetable shortening.
