Guest guest
I can't believe how far behind I am reading the list. But welcome back, Granny. Now it's going to take even longer for me to catch up, because I want to hear everything. Friday I went to Ellie's first IPP meeting with the kindergarten teacher. I am so happy with where she is. The teacher has made so many good adaptations for Ellie. She is excited about working with her. She spends 15-20 minutes working one on one with her, (and she has 25 kids in the class) She wants to teach Ellie to print her own name by the end of the school year. Just about everything she mentioned in our hour long meeting got me thinking, " Wonderful. So many parents on the list have problems with the school over this issue, and here Ellie's teacher is right on the ball doing the best thing before I even ask. " She is even making a little book to give to me at the end of the year about all the activities Ellie is participating in and saving some samples of her school work and taking pictures etc. The Prep/school liason worker has mentioned to me that they have never encountered a teacher who is more willing to learn and work with them. I am floored. I had Ellie in a daycare for two weeks before I discovered it was a Christian daycare. I was just flabbergasted over that one too. No wonder God closed the doors at those other two (bigger and bolder) daycares. It has been a really good fall so far. So for all you people having trouble with your schools, I invite you to come here to Calgary and enroll your precious ones in Col J Fred , in Mrs Saarenoja's class. (I don't think Ellie will be able to say her name by the end of the year, but the speech therapist is going to work on it.) Gwen, mom to Ellie, 4 years and 360 days old.
