At the US Capitol at Noon on September 24, 2000 The First Buddy Walk in Washington, DC faced l03 Degree Heat Last year it Rained -- Will it be a Tropical Storm Tomorrow??? We are Prepared to Fight Mother Nature!!! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Lee (703) 938-4041 WASHINGTON, DC -- Join hundreds of individuals with Down syndrome, their family, friends, neighbors, and school, charitable and civic groups for the third annual National Buddy Walk. The Walk is sponsored by the National Down Syndrome Society and 11 parent groups from Washington, DC, land, and Virginia. The goal of the Walk is to promote understanding and awareness of Down syndrome and to raise funds for research and education programs. WHERE: If the weather is nice, come to the Lower West Terrace of the U. S. Capitol Grounds. If the weather is uncooperative or questionable, we will be in Room H C 5 inside the Capitol. Enter through the " Memorial Door " on the East Front of the Capitol just to the left of the center steps. RAIN PLAN: If it rains, we will shake our fists at mother nature while singing, dancing, enjoying refreshments and hearing from distinguished guests -- inside the Capitol. Following that, hardy souls with umbrellas will Walk around the Capitol building.
