Guest guest
Seat belts and car seats are a must in our family. There is no discussion about it, therefore it has never been an issue. We used carseats as a rule even before it was the law. (Ok..so I'm aging myself!) Right now I have 4 foster children, all in some type of carseat. When they have visits often a transportation person or a parent aide will pick them up. The other day one took one of my 2 month olds and buckled his carseat in incorrectly. I told her the proper way and she didn't accept it saying it was too flimsy. (This is the same one I had to tell to face the baby backwards.) The next time she took him for a visit I took the carseat from her car and placed it on the base that is permanent in my car and drove off. As I was driving I noticed that although the carseat was attached to my base, she had never buckled the baby in his seat!! Monday I am going to call her supervisor and let her know that she needs to provide training on proper carseat usage. I just don't feel safe letting her take him buckled incorrectly and I KNOW it will cause a stink if I refuse to LET her take him. It seems pretty basic to me and if not, there are all sorts of courses provided on car seat installation.
Guest guest
HI I had a wreck once on my due date with my oldest daughter (before seat belts were a big deal) The only thing that kept me from being thrown from my car was my sons car seat (it was empty) was buckled in the passengers seat. LOL I couldn't fit through the little space between the window and door (I was huge lol) After this experience I started wearing my seat belt......21 yrs ago Kathy mom to Sara
Guest guest
We've also buckled up since before the seatbelt laws. I remember the houdini stage when Nicky was younger. We had to stop along the way many times. One thing that worked when he was in the booster type car seat was to turn the buckle upside down and latch it, so that it took a bit of maneuvering to undo it. Worked for awhile. Luckily now Nick keeps the belt on and has learned to buckle up independently. We learned the hard way about buckling up before we were married. Right after we were engaged we headed off so my fiancée (now hubby for over 26 years) could meet my parents. Stupidly took off for the 2 hour drive in a snow storm that didn't lighten up as the forecast had predicted. You guessed it - no seatbelts and slid into a pickup truck. hubby met his in-laws at the hospital. I had hit the windshield and was pretty cut up, not to mention black eyes. Hubby had a banged up knee. Seatbelts have been a non-negotiable issue since. a Mom of 3, including Nicky, 9 years old, DS, Hirschsprungs Disease Grandma of Zoe, 3 years, and Christian, 14 months http://www.geocities.com/eureka/7926/nicky.html work: http://www.cumberlink.com Re: Now seat belts > HI > > I had a wreck once on my due date with my oldest daughter (before seat belts > were a big deal) The only thing that kept me from being thrown from my car > was my sons car seat (it was empty) was buckled in the passengers seat.
