A number of us (myself, Jerry Mayfield and others I know) were on triple therapy in the old days...inf, ara-c and HHT (via catheter at that time...I think it is in pill form now)........and the results of this combo were nothing spectacular. This was in 1999 at MDACC. Also, I know at least one person who did Gleevec and HHT at Hammersmith in the UK recently....and I believe stopped because of bad side effects. So this is not really a new drug, and I don't remember anyone thinking it was really impressive. C.
Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for sharing your experience with HHT. I remember hearing from a few others about their treatment with HHT. While this is information for share holders (and no, I am not a share holder ;>) this is interesting when we think of the fact that there are about 60,000 cmlers in the world and not all us are being treated with IM or BMS. Just recently I did a little market research and if you take into consideration that of all the list servs that I know of we are about 2,000 (taking into consideration that there are many of us signed up on multiple lists)cmlers on the internet which is a small fraction of the total population of CMLers. When I come across articles like this it reminds me that we haven't heard from anyone on this trial, yet it has managed to make it to phase II. The other point is that while patients are on this trial they are unavailable for the other trials of BMS or AMN107. Additionally I was curious if any of the patients in this phase II trial are doing this because they couldn't get into the BMS trial. I can't figure out why the article headline calls it a new drug either, maybe because it is in pill form - who knows. But if anyone is going to MDACC in the near future, maybe they can inquire about this trial. Cheers to all, Cheryl-Anne > > Hi Cheryl-Anne, > > I responded to this article on Jerry's list....to me this sounds like > drug company hype....the type of thing written for stockholders. > > A number of us (myself, Jerry Mayfield and others I know) were on triple > therapy in the old days...inf, ara-c and HHT (via catheter at that time...I > think it is in pill form now)........and the results of this combo were > nothing spectacular.
