This sounds great Cheryl-Anne and Suzan. I will think about questions I might have. I think that the drug scene for CML might get kind of interesting with Novartis very likely having some competitors soon. It looks like BMS is heading to be fast tracked....and down the road, the competition might be which is better, the new 'super Gleevec' (AMN107) or the BMS drug???? Interesting times ahead. Guest guest
hallo cheryl anne i look forward to see you in dublin next month. since i have participated in the first 2 meetings (last year in milan and the year before in swizerland) i am sure you will find the meeting very informative and interesting. and above all its a great pleasure to meet with old internet pals like susan, you, jan from germany, my long time pal zavie, elizabeth and sandy and more. shalom giora [ ] CML Meeting in Ireland Hello All, Suzan McNamara and I have been invited to attend a CML patient meeting in Ireland that is being sponsored entirely by Novartis. The meeting will take place on June 17 to the 19th in Dublin Ireland. The conference is called " New Horizons in Treating Cancer, Third International Conference for Organizations Representing People with CML or GIST. The goal of the this conference is to provide patient group representatives with an opportunity to build relationships and alliances, and to share experiences and achievements with each other. Last year, more than 35 patient group representatives from 16 countries participated. At the conference, we will have the opportunity to network with other patient organizations, to share success stories on a range of topics, including starting and running a patient group, understanding the clinical trial process, and influencing health authority decisions on access to treatment. Additionally, leading cancer specialists will provide an overview of the latest research and the impact of this research on targeted therapy for cancers including chronic myeloid leukemia and gastrointestinal stromal tumor. We will be bringing a DVD copy of the webcast to share with other members there and we wish to share information on our regular meetings and learn how to expand our group and reach more CML patients. On the subject of the latter, we will be working with the LLS in Canada to reach more CML patients and provide them with an opportunity to participate in discussion groups in Canada. However, Suzan and I really want to make sure that we also address any question's you may have regarding CML and specifically if you have any questions about Gleevec, or the other drugs as there will be CML medical experts there. We are both very excited about meeting with patient group leaders from the various participating countries. Please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be sure to gather everyone's questions and return with answers. We'll also be happy to provide you with a complete report on our return. Cheers, Cheryl-Anne and Suzan
