Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for that explanation but it begs another question for me. Is the same true of Procrit. I seem to need more of it over time and I'm not bleeding which did happen at one time. I'm getting 40,000 units weekly to keep my Hgb around 10 and a little higher but never up as high as 11. Last week it had dropped down to 9.6 so I got 80,000 units which bumped it up to 10.6 which is what it measured a week later. This increase in Procrit has come after going back up to 800 mg IM after dropping back to 600 mg for about a year. Thanks! My experience on a steady dose of IM is different. First off, when I was on 400mg of IM for about 1.5 years, I never needed Procrit. When I doubled the dose to 800mg just over 4 years ago.....I needed Procrit as hgb/hct was too low. I used 40,000 units once a week, clock work. Gradually I have needed less Procrit (I am still on 800mg IM).....and now I use 40,000 units about every 10-12 days. So I am not accommodating to Procrit and needing more of it.....I am using less. Just wanted to share my experience with you. C.
Guest guest
Thanks for sharing . It had seemed to me that a long time ago one of us 'ol folks had mentioned that Procrit was a medicine of diminishing returns and I wanted to check since that seems to be happening to me. I do get a little concerned about blood clots probably because a friend died of one unrelated to Procrit but the memory remains fresh. Thanks again, 'ol friend. It's afffect on me.......or some change in my blood....means I need less and less of it, to keep my hgb in the high 11/12 range. I used to use it weekly......but now only every 10-12 days for the same benefit! About the blood clot issue.......Dr. Druker said this was more of a problem if you had high blood pressure (which I don't, mine is quite low).........and he said all medicines have some side effects/risks for some people.....and he felt with Procrit this is very low.... so he puts more value on quality of life. I do know that G's doc at the Mayo clinic feels differently. C.
Guest guest
Right. But my own experience is that I need more and more. Would you please send me your private email address? Mine is loewen1@.... Loewenkamp Re: [ ] Re: Visine products At 06:44 AM 8/8/05 -0400, you wrote: >Thanks for sharing . Hi , my e-mail is ncogan@... when I started using Procrit, my local onc thought I could drop to 20,000 units and just maintain an hgb of about 10 (the Medicare requirement).... this was a bone of contention, and I dropped him. When I asked Dr. D what the goal was.....he said.... " in the normal range, of course! " I feel so good between shots that I sometimes even forget to take it, then my hgb drops and I remember! so I need to put it on the calendar, for about every 10 days....not as easy to remember as once a week.
