Guest guest
Hi all. Just wanted to pop in and give everyone a quick update on the harvest today. I went for a blood draw at 7:30 this AM to see if my levels were at the appropriate point and returned to the apheresis center at 1 PM for the results and to check in. When we arrived, the results still weren't ready so we waited awhile. If you go to a large medical center, you are probably familiar with the adage of 'Hurry Up and Wait' - so we weren't too surprised. The head nurse of the apheresis center (who I've dubbed 'Sarg') finally called me and told me that while my levels were acceptable they wanted to wait one more day so I have a bit more Neupogen on board. She told me if they tried to start today the harvest would likely take 4 - 5 days so it was well worth waiting an extra day. I was a bit disappointed but was excited to hear that I've reached the level I should be at. Since we now had a few hours to spare, we drove down to Kemah - a nice resort town on Galveston Bay. We drove around and had a quick bite to eat as of I am really feeling the full effects of four shots of Neupogen a day so it will be good to have that piece of the process behind me. That's about all for now. I'll update everyone tomorrow night after my first full day of apheresis. Hopefully it'll be a go! Thinking of all of you and hoping you are having a good day!
