Guest guest
Tom, This is very disheartening to hear. I hope there is some technical difficulty and there is not a ban on your membership. I like your posts, as I am sure others do as well.!! I hope the moderators at look into this ASAP.
Guest guest
Oops I see this from Traci, not Tom. Really I have no idea why this happened. I have only read one of your posts.( I don't know this site that well yet.)

I know lots of " off topic " posts are negatively thought of on this forum. Also if a post or person causes an uproar on forum one might get banned. Guest guest
Hi Elinor, As part of my job I file disability claims. I have successfully obtained an SSI benefit for a 19year old Asp, who also had a dx of anxiety disorder. In addition to meeting the non medical resource requirements, you have to have medical evidence showing impact on daily activity. If any parent has stopped working because of your child's dx, then you should file a disability claim with Social Security Administration (SSA), if you meet the resource requirements, pursue the disability claim, if denied keep appealing. At the second appeal which is "Request for Hearing" you need to obtain an attorney (attorney fees are set by SSA, you only pay if they win your claim, even then the payment is made from SSA to the attorney from the first back payment check). If you have the medical evidence to back up the dx, you lose nothing by filing a claim. Below please find the links to initiate an SSI claim. http://www.ssa.gov/pgm/ssi.htm https://secure.ssa.gov/apps6z/i3820/main.html I hope this was helpful, Yeme From: Elinor Mullin <elliemullin@...> Sent: Thu, January 20, 2011 4:33:23 PMSubject: ( ) ??? Guest guest
I have a question about this! I just read the instructions on the SSA website. http://www.ssa.gov/applyfordisability/child.htm Here is my situation. I had my child privately evaluated by a Psychologist for the initial diagnosis which is officially autism. I have an IEP with the school district and FINALLY am a consumer with Regional Center. My sons pediatrician does not see him as having autism. However she has spent less than an hour with him his entire life. Is it her they will contact? Guest guest
Hi , They will gather all his medical and school records, in addition they may want your child to be seen by one of their own doctors (consultative examiners). SSA will look for objective evidence, but it's helpful to have a supportive pediatrician... you may want to consider finding another pediatrician.
