Hi dear CML Family! While I don't post often, I continue to keep you

all in my prayers. I do read the list and keep up-to-date.

I continue to do well. Some of you might remember that I went

through a stem cell harvest in August of this year at MDACC. While

it wasn't the smoothest process, they were able to collect I think 6

million stem cells (if I am recalling correctly). I was part of a

study at MDACC and through my journey they found that withholding

Gleevec for 4 weeks prior to the harvest is most optimal. (Yes - I

was terrified to be off IM that long!) So, this is now part of the

new harvest protocol. I am glad that I 'contributed to science'! : -

)

I return to MDACC on the 14th and 15th of December so if there is

anyone there at that time, I'd love to get together for coffee and

chat!

Anyway - just wanted to share the following info from the LLS

regarding an upcoming conf. call on 'Current Progress in CML Therapy -

Outlook

from a Panel of Experts'

The call will take place on Wed., the 14th of December - 8 PM

Eastern,

and 5 PM Central. Dr. Druker, as well as Dr. Cortes

(MDACC) and Dr. Deininger of OHSU will share their expertise.

There are several ways to register . . .

email: Send your name, mailing address, telephone number and e-mail

address to: progress@...

Telephone: Call tollfree 1-800-899-2923 and choose Option #2

Online: Visit www.LLS.org/leukemiaeducation or http://CML.LLS.org

Within 48 hours of registering, you will receive confirmation

supplying details of the program.

Just wanted to share this if anyone is interested. It is always an

honor to hear the esteemed Dr. Druker speak candidly on CML and

treatment.

Well, that's about it. My love and hugs to all of you! Wishing you

all a very special Thanksgiving!

Love,

Barb Heathcote

Raleigh, NC
