(kidding!) In the US, we don't have a 'party' in charge.....legislation comes from the Senate and Congress.....we elect those people to represent us. Like, why are they blocking the import of cheaper drugs from Canada? There are also decisions made at a state level....like Oregon has the Oregon Health Plan for low income uninsured. Oregon also is creating a state system for buying drugs in bulk at a discounted rate and making them available to anyone in the state....not sure this has started yet. Health care in the US is very complicated, which makes it hard to deal with. C.

Rub elbows with Oregon a little! When Kitzhaber, MD was in the state Senate, he created the Oregon Health Plan....and he later became governor. Unfortunately it has become too costly for the state and has been scaled down. Many thought, back some time ago, that he would help develop a national health program....... but it is hard to change a system when those in power are making $$ from it. I would be interested in any ideas that you have. C.
