Sorry that things are going haywire, Colleen. I will hold good thoughts for

your husband (what did he have surgery for, and is he OK now?), and I will

also pray that you get more babies to watch so that you can increase your

income! Best wishes to you ... I'm here if you ever need to vent!

Thanks for the good thoughts coming my way nne! 's surgery

was something a little embarrasing to him, so I promised I wouldn't

post to the list about it. He is in some pain, but doing better. He

went back to work Wednesday.

As for the babies, I'm hoping to find someone to replace her soon!

Just found out that Thursday of next week is her last day, very sad!

Dave,

I have had problems with my knees locking up and it kind of feels

like a pop. It usually happens if I move my knee the wrong way and

when it does, oh God, I can't move. I just have to sit there until

it finally " pops " back. My rheumy said that it is a sign of

deterioration in the joint (woo hoo, what great news!). My hands and

knees were where the first place that I had pain and one of my knees

swells up like a basketball sometimes. When that happens, I have to

go in to see the rheumy and he tries to drain the fluid and gives me

a cortisone shot (another painful experience!) but without it, I

wouldn't be able to work because I can't bend my knee. I'm sorry

that you are having such pain and frustration. I hope that your new

meds work out. A lot of people are having great success with the

biologics. I have had mixed results. I had a severe site reaction

with Enbrel, Remicade just quit working, and now I am trying Humira

combined with mtx. Throughout the years I have tried every NSAID they

have come out with to no avail and I was on mtx by itself before the

biologics. I use a topical steroid for the P but it never fully goes

away. I hate it! Anyway, I have good days and bad but at least I am

having some good ones now. I would check with the insurance company

and see if they cover the biologics and how much they cover because

they are unbelievably expensive. I am lucky that I only have to pay

a $20 copay but my insurance is through my job so if something ever

happened and I couldn't work, I'd be screwed. I just got turned down

by our long term disability insurance because of the the arthritis.

What a drag. Anyway, hope you are having a good day today - it's

Friday so I can rest tomorrow and that's what keeps me going!!

PS: To all: I think it's so cool that some of us are only living a

few hours away from each other and then there are those of you guys

that are halfway around the world - all with the same problem (and

answers or at least help :)

Hi ,

Sorry to hear of your problems.

Back before I began taking MTX, I did have a couple episodes like you

descibed. I popped my knee twice. Both times, no injury, no damage,

just a heck of alot of pain. My Rheumy told me that the inflammation

and slight deterioration of the bone were likely the culprit. Also

that the more deterioration, the more likely this would occur.

Thankfully my weekly dose of MTX stops the inflammation, stops my

pain AND I haven't had my knee pop since.

You don't mention if you are treating your PA, but hopefully whatever

drug treatment or method you are using has stopped the inflammation,

thus the the deterioration of the bones, or you could be looking at a

regular event. If your treatment already does stop the inflammation,

You MAY have too much bone deterioration and MAY need to have some

reconstruction to stop this problem. As always, consult your doctors.

Stay Well

Hi ,

I have not had anything like that happen to me but I am currently having

problems with my right knee. It is painful but not as bad as some of my joints

just now. The thing is though, that is exactly the way I have been describing

it to people, like it is going to just pop out if I move the wrong way. The

problem is on the inside of my leg just beside my kneecap. I am due to see my

Rheumy next month so I will ask about it. Maybe he will X-ray it. I will let

you know as soon as I do.

Cheers,

I have had that problem with both of my knees and ended up with a torn

meniscus. I felt a pop with both knees when they tore. I hope that is not

the

case with yourself. This will now show on an xray and you will have to get

an MRI if the xrays are negative. I ended up having arthroscopic surgery on

each knee at different times.

Thanks Janet,

I will certainly ask my Rheumy. I said that I was to see him early next

month but I have just realised that the appointment made was for his Enbrel

clinic. Only problem is......I'm not on Enbrel.......yet. They were going to

start

me on it and changed their mind at the last minute but the appointment was

made by that time. I think I will just go anyway.

Thanks again,

Dear ,

I have my fingers crossed for you. The waiting is tough -- and you

have to be tougher. Please keep us posted.
